bedtime Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Brandon Sanderson had a YouTube event scheduled for Friday, January 30th at 8:00pm EST (NY time). It was to discuss the new Apple TV signing. The event was open, and people were chatting on the YouTube page, waiting for the event to start. Then suddenly the video was pulled, and the link is now gone and no replacement or explanation as to what happened. What a drag. Even had my alarm set so I wouldn't miss it.
Oranjejuicemonki He/Him Posted January 31 Posted January 31 I have no clue. Glad it's not something weird with my computer. I'll let you know if I find it.
Usseewa Posted January 31 Posted January 31 (edited) It got postponed I think? https://www.reddit.com/r/Cosmere/comments/1qps9wy/update_from_brandon/ Quote UPDATE FRI JAN 30: Per the comment below, posted in the chat for the link above, the livestream has been postponed. Updates will be forthcoming. @BrandSanderson > Hey guys! This is Donald. We won't be going live tonight. Will share an updated date and time as soon as possible. Thanks for understanding and have a great evening! Edited January 31 by Usseewa 2

Then Sanderson pulls the feed without warning and ghosts us all, only to have some other person mention—buried in a reddit feed—that Sanderson won't be going live. No explanation, no apologies. Just a 'Thanks for understanding.' How can we even understand when we don't even know the cause for the cancellation? And how can many of those people have a 'great evening' when many of them had mentioned in the reddit feed that they had cancelled their evening plans just for this? Sanderson knows people obsess about this stuff, and yet he let them dangle. A 15 second video on YouTube would have sufficed. 1

He works at Dragonsteel as the paid-unpaid intern/third host of Intentionally Blank. Try not to crash out too much. 2

I just got a trifle excited to hear him make this announcement. If you were here, you'd probably have seen the anticipationspren turn into angerspren, buzzing about my head.

This feels needlessly harsh; there's a variety of possible (good) reasons why this may have been delayed. Remember, Brandon was not the person who revealed this news—it was The Hollywood Reporter; so, he was probably taken by surprise. Edited January 31 by Schizoposting 7

king of nowhere Posted February 6 Posted February 6 and yet, we got no announcement whatsoever, even a week later. it's just weird. if he could not disclose any more because of the contract, he could have just made this simple statement to cancel the event. if it was some organizational issue, he could have just sent a message to reassure that the even will happen eventually. i've never seen brandon postpone a live stream and then for over a week make no communication whatsoever, to the point that we don't even know it will be eventually held or not 1
Nesh he/him Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Well, as of the February 17, 2026 weekly update we have an answer, it has to do with the weird stuff going on with the Writer's Guild of America right now. It will happen at some point 2
