Myst He/Him Posted January 29 Posted January 29 The title kinda explains it, but here’s the long version. I really like D&D 5e Warlocks, I like the variety and the insanely different ways to play them thanks to the Pact Boons and Eldritch Evocations. However, I’d also like to get into the Cosmere ttrpg(I love D&D but I have no experience here) and as such, I thought the first place to start would be trying to combine them. I absolutely love tinkering with warlocks(I may or may not be making control warlock that may or may not be able to survive(they’d be unconscious) a max damage meteor swarm as long as they have a 18 in constitution or a 14 and the tough feet…. PM me if you want to know more) and it’s because the Pact boons, Pact of the chain is insanely good, and Pact of the Blade basically a shardblade and I love them both. And then the Eldritch Evocations let you do so much and customize your warlock to an insane degree So, all you people who know about the Cosmere rpg, is there something similar to the pact boons and Eldritch Evocations in there? 1
Erremin Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Well, you have a lot of flexibility in your build, and there's some min/max builds you can make, but there's not really something like a warlock, neither mechanically nor flavor-wise (although a Knight Radiant is a bit of a warlock)

Yes, kinda. All of the “classes” are split into talent trees. You are free to take any talent from any tree as long as you meet the requirements. While there is no “warlock” of flexibility, you can build your character pretty much however you want. Essentially, it is all “eldritch invocations."

In fact, it's highly recommended that you do. Instead of "Classes", they use the term "Path" in the CRPG. All characters start with one of the 6 Heroic Paths (Agent, Envoy, Hunter, Leader, Scholar, or Warrior). This is kind of the base Archetype for your character. When you level up you can invest Talent Points in that same Path or one of the other 5 OR into a Radiant Path; which are skill trees that represent the 9 Orders of Knights Radiant that you are allowed to join (no Bondsmith player characters). As the game expands, they'll add more paths too (Mistborn trees are coming soon). AFAIK there's no limit to how many different Paths you put points into - at least from a game mechanics perspective. From a roleplaying perspective, it would be strange (but not impossible) to join a bunch of Orders at once. And keeping all of those Oaths would get tricky. 1
miki716 Posted January 31 Posted January 31 You only want the "Power" of the Warlock or are you more interested in the role-playing aspect? In Roshar, all Radiants are, basically, pseudo-warlocks. They get powers because they make a deal with a strange power, and if they don't do what they are supposed to, they can remove them their powers. It's not the same, of course, but you can give the flavor that you want to your spren and make him a more menacing spren that forces you to do stuff, similar to Szeth's.

It’s pretty much the “power” and variety of stuff I could do with Warlocks, the making a deal for power was usually secondary as I’d use the stuff I got from my shenanigans for rp.
