It seems that gemstones are capable of holding Investiture, particularly Rosharan Investiture, regardless of origin.

It makes me wonder, could Rosite function as gemstones, even if they're made of Investiture (similar to how Godmetals are Investiture but can hold an additional charge)? They've been compared to quartz before, which might be workable- after all, amethyst is a type of quartz with a smidge of iron. So there's some strong similarity to at least one type of Polestone. If pink isn't close enough to one of the ten essences, we know that coloration can be tweaked directly by an Aetherbound, at least to some extent, so if I'm correct in my Googling, maybe you could make it red, purple, or yellow, all of which require iron with differing levels of oxidation (which pink quartz also uses).

If the Aetherbound or Sprouter were skilled, perhaps you could even encourage the Rosite to form more perfectly, making something that holds Stormlight better than most gemstones naturally found and cut.

It might also be interesting to see if larger Rosite structures could be maintained on Roshar if they could capture Stormlight, then use that same Investiture to sustain its mass.

That's actually a rather perceptive question.

Thank you. That means a lot to me.

been thinking abt this while I was semi-dead, and I believe it says somewhere (I can't find where but I could swear I heard it) that only the ten pole stones naturally hold light, and so, like an aquamarine couldn't hold Stormlight, and so neither could roseite? not sure tho and I can't find that source.

It's mentioned a few times in TWoK. It's why dun spheres are suspicious. The simplest method for confirming that a sphere is not fake is seeing it hold Stormlight. TWoK quotes (spoilered for length):

Spoiler
Quote

"She’d brought only infused spheres, as she’d heard that dun ones were considered suspect, and sometimes a moneylender would have to be brought in to judge the authenticity of the gemstone. She kept the most valuable spheres she had in her safepouch, of course, which was buttoned to the inside of her left sleeve." - TWoK Chapter 3.

Here now,” the apothecary said, squinting. “You trying to pass dun spheres off on me?” He snatched one before Kaladin could complain, then fished around under his counter. He brought up a jeweler’s loupe, removing his spectacles and holding the sphere up toward the light. “Ah. No, that’s a real gemstone. You should get your spheres infused, bridgeman. Not everyone is as trusting as I am.” - TWoK Chapter 17

I think what Trusk'our is wondering is if Roseite can be 'tweaked' enough by an Aetherbound to technically qualify as any of the Polestones. I'd lean towards "no", but I don't think we have enough information to fully reach a conclusion. There are WoBs that say chemical composition AND color both matter. We don't actually know the composition of Roseite or how much control an Aetherbound has over its color. But if it IS similar enough to quartz and an Aetherbound could match the color of either Smokestone or Amythyst, then it may work.

I suppose it's also possible that Roseite just works on its own without any shenanigans either. It could just be an 11th polestone that no one has tried before since it isn't naturally present on Roshar. But I'd call that even less likely.
