I'm sure this has been posted about somewhere before, but I couldn't find it for the life of me. Do each of the shard have its own number? I've seen some WoBs saying that virtuosity's number is 13, and there's all these 10-, 12-, and 16-worlds. Also read a theory that type 1-6 entities were a reference to ambition being number 6. Do each of the shards have their own number, or is it just some of them/ its more tied to the cognitive identity of the people on the planets? I also think the honor flashbacks said odium was 9? but I cant find it.

I am very severely stupid and am now realizing that I spelled shard wrong when searching the forums.😢

I think I asked this once before, years ago, and was told that not every shard specifically has a number.  Can't cite any sources on that, though.

I'd guess that Preservation is 16, Honor is 10 (arranged in a triangle), Cultivation is 3 (arranged in a triangle), Odium is 9 (arranged in a triangle missing the middle one), and Autonomy is 1.

Yes, not all Shards have numbers and we don't know all that do

Some of the ones we do are are
Preservation (16)
Honor (10)
Odium (9)
Virtuosity (13)
Endowment (5)

I'm the FCCRP, the beginning scene made me think about this.

The Shardpools are arranged in a circle, and the ones that correspond to the Shard are in that number's position.

Unfortunately, @Ookla the Tachyon, Honor's wasn't in 10, but that's what I think.

Maybe everyone knew this, and I'm just slow. But hey, I thought it was neat.

...

The Shardpools weren't meant to correlate to anything

I just listed Shards in the order I thought of them

Just out of curiosity, do we actually know Honor corresponds to the number 10?

Spoiler

Didn’t he originally ask the oathpact founders for ideally 16 members?

Maybe there’s a reason I’m forgetting at the moment though.

Hmmmm....

That's true.

Honor's number is indeed ten. Honor said:

This topic comes up quite often and it's almost always killed by a 10-year-old, paraphrased WoB:

The Only Joe (paraphrased)

Do all Shards have a number they're associated with?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

Some do, (most/some) don't.

Firefight Portland signing (Jan. 16, 2015)

But I'd like to counter with a slightly more recent, verbatim WoB:

Questioner

I have a theory that each one of the Shards is related to a certain number. Preservation really likes 16, Honor likes 10, and Odium likes 9. Am I onto something?

Brandon Sanderson

Yes.

Oathbringer Houston signing (Nov. 18, 2017)

Plus, to me, it just makes sense that if some Shards have a number, then they all should. And several have been explicitly confirmed.

My personal guesses so far are:

Shard Number
Devotion 1?
Dominion 2?
Cultivation 3?
Ruin 4?
Endowment 5
Ambition 6?
Autonomy 7
Odium 9
Honor 10
Virtuosity 13
Preservation 16
Invention TBD
Mercy TBD
Valor TBD
Whimsy TBD
Reason TBD
