Back in his cabin, Armiel surveys the collection of foodstuffs he was able to get from the market. A small sack of oranges, suitable for flavoring a morning’s porridge. A rather large selection of smoked salmon, apparently a specialty of Erik Island. There was an empty milk jug, since it wouldn’t have kept fresh for more than a day in these conditions. And a small, sealed jar that had been an especially good bargain. He’d have to figure out the best use for that particular ingredient.

William felt a pang of hunger in his chest and so went looking for someone who could have something to eat... he knocked on the door that he belived was for the cook who he was sure that somethign stashed away for him.

Just got home so rollover might take me 15 minutes longer or longer.

~25 minutes remain before the end of the Night.

Shifter knew someone would die tonight. The chills of Braid’s death still rattled him. And the marks… those marks were all too familiar.

He had thoughts on who might die; thoughts he would share tomorrow, when the kill was made.

And an assassin hopefully beginning to reveal.

Shifter couldn’t sleep with those thoughts in his head, so he left his quarters, and went on the deck to wait. On the deck, in the open air, everything seemed freer. Or perhaps the illusion was just better. On his way, he heard light footsteps heading down the corridor, and sidestepped them. He didn’t want company tonight.

If I die, the elims are targeting rosite spore users because they can protect themselves from murder.

Shifter didn’t know what to think of Sozar’s logic.

But he did find it amusing.

I will say, if people want to post things like "If I die, it's because I told Little Wilson that I wasn't protected tonight", you should wait until the very last minute to post it. Not several minutes before.

I know. Just wanted to say that it would or could be a pattern

LG108, Day Three — Icy Dead People

The medbay door had stuck on the first push. Itenii eased it open with his shoulder and stepped into air that bit his teeth.

Cold. Too cold.

A faint, steady drip came from the far counter. Someone had set a tray beneath a shallow pan; the pan’s rim was rimed. Celeste spores—kept barely wet so they sipped warmth from the room. The lantern over the sink burned low. Shadows sat in the corners like folded sails.

Braid lay on the raised bed, blanket to her collarbone. The braid itself had been coiled under her head, cut clean. Her cup rested at the bedside, lid sealed tight.

Itenii pulled his sleeves down and stepped closer. His breath fogged. He leaned over the blanket and looked for anything missed: a smudge, a thread, a scratch near the wrist where the rope would have bitten. The skin showed countless faint crescents, bloodless marks he hadn’t noticed at first glance in the dimness.

A glass vial rolled in the sink behind him and tapped the basin twice.

He froze. Listened.

Nothing.

“Ship groans,” he told himself.

He lifted the lantern a notch. The flame guttered, then steadied. The cold ate the light.

Something small fell off a shelf near the door—tic, tic, clack—and skittered under the stool. He couldn’t see it.

He took a step back to find the angle. The lantern threw his shadow long across the wall. For a second, four other shadows stood with it—faces turned his way, their lifeless eyes murderous. Though he couldn't see any details, he recognized their silhouettes. “Not possible,” he whispered. "I must be dreaming."

A breath of air brushed his ankle. The pan’s drip quickened. The room creaked softly as if someone leaned on the counter.

He lowered the lantern again. “Who’s there?” It came out drier than he felt.

Silence. Where did the ghosts go? Were they ever even there?

The cold ratcheted down. His fingertips stung, then numbed. The lantern flame pinched to a bead. He reached to pull the blanket higher over Braid without knowing why—respect, maybe, or habit—and a shape shifted under the exam table. Not a rat. Too smooth, too patient. The sort of dark that looked back.

A tray tilted. Instruments kissed the floor one by one—tick, tick, tick—spreading a fan of shadow. The four spirits returned in the spill, clearer now, mouths closed, eyes open, wrong in the way Midnight made things wrong.

Itenii’s pulse jumped. He went for the door. The knob burned his palm with cold. He fumbled the bolt and yanked.

Behind him, something pulled the bell-jar dropper from its hook and let all it's water spill into the Celeste pan.

For an instant the room inhaled.

The flash was not light but lack: heat torn out in a slamming breath. Frost crawled the metal tray, the wall, the blanket. Itenii’s exhale froze into a white flower that hung in the air and did not move. Sound stopped. Thought stopped.

He had time to notice the porthole fogging from the inside and the lantern flame turning glass-hard.

Then he became part of the room’s stillness—caught mid-reach, eyes wide, a thin rime beginning at his lashes.

In the silence, something in the shadows settled, patient again, and waited for morning.

@Amanuensis, do Pots in the storehouse always come from dead players, or can some come from NPC's?

Always from dead players, including exes. But that reminds me I forgot one.

Hmm

okay

that doesn't clarify much

I guess a poke vote is a poke vote, not an elim trying to start a train for no reason

That's the D2 vote count with flips in green. I've italicized myself, and also Hoid because either he's doing an excellent job pocketing me in our PM or he's actually just village.

Alright, for now I'm going to drop Belandrius from the POE, since the NK left him as the only unflipped player voting for TS. I doubt all 3 elims voted together, since I read Hoid as village and he was the second-largest train. From there, things diverge a bit, but not a ton, based on whether TS is village. If TS is elim, then likely one of CD/RBM is as well. If not, then it's kind of hard to say, and we might even want to go back and reconsider Belandrius. Also, Joe looks slightly better in the e!TS world, since he's pushing for either Hoid or TS to die today.

I'll drop a vote on CD for now, since I think it's reasonable to count 2 elim out of the 5 players voting for TOW, and I'm not committed to a TS exe today. My next analysis will be looking back at TS, RBM, and CD's posts from D1 and (mostly) D2.

Alright

So here’s what I get from this NK:

There were two blatant pools of targets for the elims to attack: The Masters [TwinStorm, TUH] and the active, experienced players [Araris, Jo]. I’ll throw myself in there as well, not because I’m experienced but because I am analyzing a lot. So we have a pool of five:

[TwinStorm, TUH, Araris, Jo, me(Hoid)]

Yet for some reason, the elims didn’t kill anyone in this pool. The main reason I see for an elim team with no members in this pool to not NK any of them is for the Theory of Unnatural Survival (a name I just came up with, basically that the reason high activity players don’t die is cause the elims are hiding among them). The elims could be baiting this, hoping we exe players in this pool; it would be an interesting gambit, but also risky. And it would take five cycles to exe everyone in there, cycles where elims have a risk of getting caught. Of course, they could use a combination of NKs as well, but then, why haven’t they already? I don’t know if my thought process here makes sense, but what I’m trying to say is there is likely at least one elim in that pool.

Additionally, the fact that the elims haven’t targeted either mini-pool since Doc’s death, keeping them essentially the same size, implies to me that the elims are trying to hide in the largest pool possible. By killing either a Master or experienced player, the elims would be forced to reveal information about which one they are hiding in.

So, in conclusion, there is at least one - maybe more - elims in [TwinStorm, TUH, Araris, and Jo]. I’ve taken myself out of the potential elims list for obvious reasons. I’d cap the amount of elims there at a tentative two, since any more and Doc’s death wouldn’t have been beneficial.

Cross-referencing that with Araris’ analysis, which I agree with:

Doesn’t give us much, other than that Jo and TUH are unlikely to be elim together, but Araris and TwinStorm very well could be.

Comparing that with last cycle’s events and Jo’s analysis (couldn’t quote, and warning it’s absurdly long):

Spoiler

When I got off, it was 2v2v2. (Ignoring the others)

  • (2) TwinStorm: IcedOutPenguin, Belandrius Ohhmar,
  • (2) ThatOneWorldhopper: Araris Valerian, Hoid
  • (2) Hoid Slayer: STINK, Jo

Hoid, you asked why I voted for you, and not Stink or Penguin? Simple. Stink and Penguin are late-game wild cards. I intend no offense to either of them with this, but this is how I see them. In the early to mid game, they exist kinda passively, poking around, shrugging, saying seemingly random things. They get written off. And then in the mid-to-late game they just out the entire Eliminator team. They're basically Columbo. In pretty much every game I remember seeing either of them work, regardless of faction, they do nothing that is Alignment Indicative in the early game. So I want to keep them around for a bit before I even start to look at them as suspects.

So, I voted on you, and brought us into a 3 way tie. Aman then confirmed that RNG would decide the victim of a tie, and Araris joined me on Hoid Slayer.

  • (2) TwinStorm: IcedOutPenguin, Belandrius Ohhmar,
  • (1) ThatOneWorldhopper: Hoid
  • (3) Hoid Slayer: STINK, Jo, Araris

Twin and Tow are now safe, and Hoid is under threat. TwinStorm gets online, finds it weird, susses Hammer, doesn't vote, and waits for Hoid to respond. Coder pops in, Hoid pops in panicking and promising to do analysis soon, Penguin pops in, RP's with Coder and Twin, then we get to Hoid's Analysis. It's basic, but solid. Neutral on some, Village on some, he reads me and TOW as Eliminator, both of which are wrong, and doesn't move his vote onto Twinstorm. In a V!Hoid world, I would be impressed by Hoid's honour. in a E!Hoid world, I don't see why he wouldn't vote Twin here, unless it's just hoping more people get online to save him. Which is exactly what happens.

But weirdly it's from Araris. I'm getting confusing vibes from Araris honestly. I don't see why he switched to Hoid and then back in a V or E world. Hopefully he explains further?

  • (2) TwinStorm: IcedOutPenguin, Belandrius Ohhmar,
  • (2) ThatOneWorldhopper: Hoid, Araris

Then Royal comes in and places a vote on Twin, breaking the tie. A couple of people now have referenced Doc's networking LG. I'm unfamiliar. Which game was that? Anyway. This feels weird to me, but presumably Royal knows a lot more about Twin than I do. @TwinStorm what have you and Royal talked about in your PM?

Let's assume that Royal is evil here. Why would he break the tie by killing his master? That feels like a bad idea, especially since Twin is supplying him with Roseite, (I agree with TUH btw, Elims would totally give Villagers spores.) E!Royal would do it presumably to protect another Eliminator. TOW isn't an eliminator, so if Hoid is, I would want to look at Royal.

Let's assume that Royal is villager now. Why would he break the tie by killing his master? He could have voted on any of them. I don't get it. @RoyalBeeMage Could you clarify what actions Twin had taken that didn't sit well with you?

Anyway, Twin is now in the lead. Coder then jumps on and very quickly votes for TOW, followed by Twin voting for TOW.

  • (4) ThatOneWorldhopper: Hoid Slayer, Araris ValerianCoderDrag0n8TwinStorm
  • (3) TwinStorm: IcedOutPenguin, Belandrius Ohhmar, RoyalBeeMage
  • (2) Hoid Slayer: STINKA Jo in the Bush

I'm starting to see a pattern of Twin being in the lead, and then people immediately voting to bring the train off him. Araris first, but then he went back to TOW, and now Coder jumps on TOW as well. Eliminator team of Coder, Twin, and Araris? Maybe. I'm going to ignore Coder for now, I don't want to tunnel on him. What happens next?

Twin and Royal go back and forth for a little bit about whether or not Royal received a a Roseite Charge from him. Apparently he did, but didn't realize it? Before he realizes it, The Hammerer Formerly Known as Order votes on Twinstorm.

  • (4) ThatOneWorldhopper: Hoid Slayer, Araris ValerianCoderDrag0n8TwinStorm
  • (4) TwinStorm: IcedOutPenguin, Belandrius Ohhmar, RoyalBeeMage, Bald Brandon
  • (2) Hoid Slayer: STINKA Jo in the Bush

Okay, I probably can't take all the credit for this chaos. No one cares about Hoidslayer anymore. The Execution is officially between TOW and Twin. Hammerer gives several very good reasons for E!Twin to give V!Royal a Roseite charge. (If both TOW and Hoid are Village, I'm gonna rethink this, but for now I feel pretty solid on Village Hammerer.) TUH reties Twin with Tow, and Twin doesn't criticize that, because TUH quotes scripture while doing it. I haven't noticed until now, but has TwinStorm's member title always been Dovie'andi, or did he change it to that after Hammerer voted him?

Anyway, Royal realizes Twin bribed him, and votes for TWO instead. (This is why Eliminators would give Villagers nice things)

With Royal's confirmation, Hammerer starts second guessing himself, and switches from Twin to Hoid. No one else follows him.

Literally everyone alive was at some point involved in this. There is plenty to analyze now. Although Stink, Penguin, myself, and Belandrius didn't really do anything after the 2v2v2 tie kicked off.

First off, are we in an E/E world with Hoid and Twin? Honestly maybe. They never voted for eachother after the tie. If they are both E/E, I'm not sure who their third would be. Not Hammerer, but beyond that it could be anyone except me.

Okay, second off, are we in a V/V world with Hoid and Twin? Not greening TUH this time. In a V/V/V world, The Elims are sitting pretty. Stink, Penguin, Belandrius and I never even moved, but I don't know if any of them even had time to get on. I didn't get home until past rollover. Don't know about the others. Hammerer and Araris both moved their vote back and forth a few times. Would they do that if they were Eliminators? Honestly if this is a V/V/V world, I don't think I would get anything out of it. Araris and Hammerer don't actually look bad in it, everyone just seems kinda solidly neutral. Annoying. I hope Twin or Hoid are Elims.

Okay, onto E!Hoid V!Twin. I think Araris is Village in this world. While he puts Hoid in check for a little bit, I think it's still semi-clearing. After going onto Hoid, he could have gon onte Twin instead of back to TOW if he had been E! with Hoid. This world is hard to analyse, because no one else ever votes on Hoid until Hammerer at the end. I could see Hammerer taking the small risk of voting for a Teammate in the last 5 minutes, setting him up for a possible 4v4 tie, (Mat Cauthon RNG and all that), but I think it's more likely that Ham is Village in an E!H-V!T world. Royal was the one who broke the tie away from Hoid, and voted on both Twin and TOW at different points, so I feel like he's a probable partner there. I don't think that just two elims would be enough, so presumably a third. They probably wouldn't all vote together, so that would rule out Coder, which would leave 1 of my unanalysed trio of Stink, Penguin, and Belandrius as their third.

Looking at all of these worlds together, I do want to put more pressure on STINK, Penguin, and Belandrius, because in all but the V/V world, I think one of them is likely the third elim. I'm most inclined to execute TwinStorm and Hoid Slayer. After one or both of them are gone, I go after Royal and Coder, depending on the results of Hoid/Storm.

First thing’s first, Araris leaving the train on me when I could’ve been set for death is v!leaning.

The next thing I found interesting was how Coder and TwinStorm were both eager to vote TOW when Twin came under fire from Bee. This is an obvious move from Twin, but interesting from CD and making me lean towards them as potential e!allies.

Although Bee’s switch to TOW is also intriguing.

Regarding Jo’s worlds:

I know e!e! and e!Hoid/v!Twin to be wrong, so that leaves us with the other two.

I don’t really have time to analyze more (don’t know how my school bus took so long to get to school) but right now I’m really leaning towards TwinStorm as the best kill.

I’m somewhat concerned by the lack of activity today

The only people who have made any analysis are me, Jo, and Araris. Where is everyone?

@TwinStorm what do you think of what’s going on? I don’t want to exe an innocent, and I need you to prove yourself
