Akimikoisthecutest Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 We were exploring a house to get a map. When a grandma gargoyle appeared out of nowhere and the Barbarian dropped his torch. I'm sure you can guess what happened next. Let's just say, he was banned from ever holding the torch again. 20 hours ago, KnightSkye Reforged said: Total Party Kills. when the entire party dies at once. Nalthian Customs Official Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 In a campaign I was in, our spore druid realized that since yeast was a fungus, he could theoretically control the fermentation process. After a couple of rolls, he ended up making a super high concentration alcohol that we named Starshine. We offered it to basically every friendly NPC we came across, to varying levels of success, which was always fun. The party would also drink it themselves when they wanted to relax and have a good time. On one occasion, we were on a decent sized boat traveling up a river, and the drunk party had the brilliant idea to knock on the door of a tenuous ally (later full antagonist, not because of this) and when he opened the door, there would be the druid in the form of a horse. We called this prank Just Horse, because you open the door, and there is just a horse. The druid was no longer drunk in horse form as well, just to add to the in-character awkwardness. 1
Eluvianii he/him Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 Last session our gm summoned a T-rex skeleton in the middle of the night in a packed dorm building. Not much to the story, I just love the fact that that's a thing we can fight. Lots of npcs in there so it died in like a round, but it was strong, actually one-shot one of our players (unconscious, not dead). As a bonus we then decided to exaggerate the story because you know that's what people would do, so official version is that it was a two-headed fire-breathing T-rex skeleton that shoots poison from its tail.

Welllll *grins evilly* I have an idea *pauses for gasps* *tries not to laugh* *fails* so they’re gonna try to pull a heist yes? But in a palace that even they can’t get into. Except on one day. With one group of NPCs. A traveling troupe of performers. And they (connections, yall) are a part of the group for one day. To pull go this heist. But they also do still have parts in this play. So they have to do everything when they’re not on stage. -and before you ask, OF COURSE it’s gonna be a romance how nice do you think I am ..I do have to now write a play along with normal prep… the things I do to embarrass my players… I guarantee you They're going to find a way to get into the palace That isn't that one

I love it. At first I thought it was just gonna be another spore druid doing mushrooms, but this is so much funnier and cleverer.

But she was a sorcerer, and lemme tell you that subtle spell is terrifying on the receiving end. She silently cast hold person on the whole party then looked the interrupter (level 5 wizard) dead in the eyes and cast disintegrate at level 9. 19d6 of damage. It wasn't quite insta death. But it was close. within 5 HP of insta dead. from full health. 2

So when they couldn't see her cast, she just looked at them and stuff happened, it terrified them. On top of that, you can't counterspell a subtle spell casting, because there is no apparent casting action to see coming to react too. So yeah, they all had to make saves at disadvantage, but the terror on their faces when I just looked at them and said, "She looks at all of you. Wisdom saves. Disadvantage." Was pricless. 53 minutes ago, al_lan_mandragoran said: Doesn't disintegrate turn you to dust if you reach 0 hp? Final question: did they win? Bit of Homebrew we are trying: if you reach negative double your max hp, you die and can only be brought back by true resurrection. And they are level 5, so they can't get that yet. So she had like 31 HP, and I rolled a lot of ones, and she got hit for a total of 91, so -60, which is 2 HP from long term death. The party got creative, so I allowed them to use mending to repair the dust into a body, then cast revivify. Edited December 8, 2025 by Ookla the Knight

I always do it where if you reach or pass a negative amount equal to your HP, you die That's a bit nicer.

At double negative max hp, I'm saying they have to go on a quest to get true resurrection.
