What's that

It's kind of building your own fictional language.

It’s interesting, though I do not know how to do so.

I don't really know either. I watched some YouTube videos, and all of my previous attempts haven't gotten very far.

I mean, I technically have an entire library of fictional languages that I can pick up and put down at the drop of a hat that I have never told anyone, but...

yeah...

With conlanging, you're usually trying to make languages that could've plausibly evolved on Earth or perhaps elsewhere.

Because I have that to.

No, not an Alphabet. Like- here's Latin's. It's how you determine the role of the noun in a sentence. Case_endings_5_decl_1_0.thumb.jpg.876e0c2fee09368c4cc15961671d1366.jpg

Not every language needs a case system- english relies more on pronouns and word order, but it's something to think about.

You also have to determine the way that you want to modify verbs. Unless you're doing something strange, you'll need a present, past, and probably a future case. Here's Latin's, for an example.

Anyway. For Virtosity's magic system, I'm thinking something powered by tones. Perhaps a system that lets you co-op and consume other shard's investiture?

That is... maybe a bit too powerful.

Not any stronger than bondsmithing. And that's something you can probably do very easily with tones. it would mean I would probably have to learn music, which I don't understand.

read it

I haven't read a webnovel in my life- and I don't intend to start now. From the wiki, the magic is based on something like the probability of something happening? So kind like forgery?

Is yours just going to be a duplicate of ORV's?

...

It'll be kinda diferent. It will be a base level copy, nothing exactly like the top level ORV system

16 minutes ago, Argenti said:

oh god after further reading it's one of those stat based magic systems. don't make it stat based.

NO! That is surface level ORV stuff. The true ORV magic system is much deeper

This will be basically what I am copying:

SO like your actions grant you power? You draw on the collective mytheme about you? Like a warrior renowned for his strength, would he become more powerful physically? We're gonna get some hero-gods.

Influencers are going to go crazy

ok ok ok so there is this one quote that inspired me to do this, but basically

Spoiler

Odium says that cultivation would actually prefer a war because it would cultivate people and make them grow

And I thought that was pretty similar to stories and stuff, so cultivation would want for the stories to make people grow.

It makes more sense when you actually read the novel, idk why u r against webnovels, its geniunely awesome.

Essentially, whenever you do something big and awesome, you get a story, and if you get enough stories you can use those stories as powers.

Not my pack of tropes- I don't read cultivation either.

I could see that you're cultivating your reputation, and it gives you power. Do write up an explanation of how that works in the cosmere, though. I'm interested.

Yeah, how would the Investiture know when someone has achieved something? Does Cultivation hand-pick people like Endowment? What power do Stories give here?

well, bascially, in this planet, investiture works differently. The people of Uviab call investiture Stories (see where im going) and has the explained properties below. If you ammass enough stories, then upon death, you will become a Cognitive Shadow that are sustained with these stories. On Uviab, stories make up everything (this is what cultivation will use the supernova for) and can be edited if you have enough power. This leads to a forgery-type situation where you can edit the stories of something to literally just do forgery.
