Hmm...

Autonomy/Honour - Scadrial

Cultivation/Preservation - New Yolen

Virtuosity/Dominion - ???

I don't think so. Alph doesn't like Dominion or Mascarouse much. (youre nice though ChickenBonanza) Alph is gonna find a star.

You said you had plans for Mascarose...

A new star... means I have to re-watch that Artifexian video on 'Creating 1000 stars' or something like that for the distribution of various spectral classes.

You may even find a black hole. Or a Red Dwarf with tidally-locked planets, which would be interesting.

Far for interesting that Taldain, which is missing some features of a tidally locked planet. Maybe Autonomy is doing stuff, but I don't know.

A tidally locked world should have strong winds always blowing away from the pupil (where the star is directly overhead). The darkside usually also has sub-zero temperatures.

Also, I want to see Shards do stuff with Gas Giant moons.

I meant plans for alph, not Mascarose, lol.

Do you think a shard could actually invest a black hole? Would it trap them? I would presume they could just leave because of how the spiritual realm works....

I would say yes, they can Invest it; the trapping should work the same as Investing planets, but may be somewhat stronger depending upon how black holes appear in the CR.

Spoiler

Stuart Eliason

If a planet was orbiting a black hole, would time be distorted in the Cognitive Realm in that area the same way?

Brandon Sanderson

Yes. Good question. And in fact, if you could get enough Investiture, it will do the same thing.

Spoiler

Questioner

What would happen if a Herald fell into a black hole?

Brandon Sanderson

Investiture is going to respond to a black hole, maybe not in exactly the same way as light and matter, but in a similar way. It's going to crush them, pull them in, hold them. Their soul will probably still be… there’ll be some cognitive remnant in the Cognitive Realm, depending on how the black hole is manifesting there, which we haven't gotten into yet. So, what would happen? Let's quote Halle Berry from X-Men: “What happens to a toad when it gets struck by lightning? Same as everything else.” Basically, the same thing that happens to everything else. The question is, would their immortality remain? Yes, asterisk.

Spoiler

faragorn

I recently saw on TV some info about some incredibly violent physical events in our universe, namely a collision between two black holes or a star quake on a Magnetar or Neutron Star. Is a shard holder sufficiently independent of the physical realm to be immune to even such mega-violent events, or would even one of them have a tough time shrugging it off?

Brandon Sanderson

Ruin and Preservation were, together, able to form a planet--so I'd say they could shrug that sort of thing off, depending on circumstances.

Okay, it seems like a black hole does have some cogtive realm effects.

So Investiture is not completely consumed... interesting.

No, because the majority of a Shard's Investiture is in the Spiritual Realm, which would have the spiritweb of a black hole instead of an actual black hole and would behave as such.

@Dragonheir

Or it could just be gaseous Investiture

We'd have to know how Investiture reacts under extreme conditions though

We don't exactly know what happens to god metals in star cores

It could be - I was thinking of saving that, for a Mists analog. Though actually, I guess the Laykium is like the Mists already.
Yup. Sel cognitive teasers is all we’ve got.
Well, I wasn’t thinking of putting any god metals in star cores, at least for the moment. There is, however, someone who has done something like that. *cough cough* Virtuosity is insane and I love it *cough cough*

I strongly suspect this would cause a supernova.

and it will.

in a bit

I'm just letting others react.

Hmm... won't many system be in the 200 light year range?

This is going to be devastating

Every system is gonna be in the range of utter annihilation.

But dw. A significant portion of that radiation will be converted into investiture radiation and spread across the three realms. And... the investiture will have a goal in mind. It's gonna be attracted to other large chunks of investiture- shards, ado-made systems,

dawnshards.

It won't scour the cosmere, but it will invest Virtouristy so many things. make odium look like a chump,

and I'm shaping the nebula into art

You may have forced my hand. I will give clues on the Dawshard's locations once the explosion happens.

Also, we must decide what the other two are.

Hehe. I thought this through very thoroughly.
