"Alright."

She kissed her lightly on the head and went to wake up Ember. @Wierdo

She smiled. A small one, but the first real one in too long.

Aela walked back over when she was done with Ember and hugged her again.

She hugged back. After a couple seconds of silence she said, “I never told Dad cause I didn’t want him to be sad, but I always kinda wanted a sister.”

Aela blinked, surprised, and hugged her tighter.

"Me too," she muttered into her hair.

She took Felicity's hand when they were ready to go and left.

She walked next to her, letting their shoulders brush. After they’d eaten, she’d reluctantly taken off the cloak for the first time since Mirth’s funeral and cleaned it. Well… most of it. She’d strategically gone around the bloodstains. She wore it again now.

Aela smiled comfortingly and squeezed her hand.

"Alright . . . back the way we came, I guess."

She nodded and took a deep breath. Her fingers on the other hand traced the upper hem of the cloak.

She sighed and pulled Felicity into a side hug.

". . . No. It won't ever really go away. But . . . it will get better, with time."

She didn’t respond, just held her soft fist over her chest.
