Acolyte of Radiance Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 With the reveal of adolnasium spren, is this still a possibility? ( theory was saying unmade were spren or avatars from other worlds.midnight mother was an Aether, spren like sja-anat was an avatar of endowment.)

( theory was saying unmade were spren or avatars from other worlds.midnight mother was an Aether, spren like sja-anat was an avatar of endowment.) Seems like this. It looks like Unmades were created when Odium was on Roshar with Desolations already ongoing, but Tanavast also admitted that he missed them being unmade so it's still possible he brought them off-world and hid them from others. WaT ch 120: Quote RAYSE AND I HAD BEEN IN AN ARMS RACE. FIRST HIS FUSED, THEN MY HERALDS, THEN HIS UNMADE, THEN MY RADIANTS—WHICH WERE NOT MY CONSCIOUS CREATION, BUT FORMED BY PIECES OF ME WORKING INDEPENDENTLY. [...] THE UNMADE, IN PARTICULAR, WERE GROWING IN STRENGTH. HE HAD HIDDEN THEIR CREATION FROM ME, AND I FOUND THEM UNNERVING. MY RADIANTS COULD DO GREAT THINGS, BUT WERE KEPT IN CHECK BY THEIR OATHS. HIS FUSED WERE MORE LIMITED—LEAVING HIM EXTRA STRENGTH HE COULD GIVE TO THE UNMADE. 2
The Sovereign Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 This is definitely speculation, and correlation doesn't imply causality, but go back in reread the description of The Nightwatcher (specifically how she moves around) in Oathbringer from Dalinar's trip to "The Valley" and compare it to the description of Ba-Ado-Mishram in the Spiritual Realm vision where she is healing the wounded Singers. The way they pull themselves across the ground is very similar. We know from the Sibling talking to Navani that the Nightwatcher was created when Kor Cultivated part of the Great Ado Spren "The Night". I suspect BAM may have been the result of Odium Unmaking whatever remained of "The Night". 3
Asininity Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Odium plan was to turn Dalinar into an Unmade so anything is possible Quote Taravangian still had uses for Dalinar. His broken oaths put his soul in Taravangian's hands, and he would make an Unmade from him. Make him... 1
MagicMaggot Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 (edited) The origin of the Unmade seems to be deliberately withheld for some reveal, and I find it hard to see why them being some original rosharan spren or people that we don't know anyway would be interesting enough for that. I guess there could be something interesting about the corruption process in general, but as close as we got to it with the Sibling that seems like a bit of a leap as well. So yeah, it would make more sense to me, if they were connectred to something from off-world, either from Ashyn or from Odium's wild days as a divine serial killer, ripping pieces off powers that he might well have corrupted. Ba-Ado-Fisherman Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 No, I don't think so. I have a hunch that Autonomy has been playing a role in Roshar in the background, helping Odium in some way. We shall see.
