The Burnt Man appeared in his dreams. "We have such a wonderful calling, Cole."

Cole saw flashes of scenes.

A man floating on the wind, free to realize his dreams.

A man, laughing plentifully, approaching a crop of abundant plants.

A man - himself - holding up a small stone. Reality warping around him as screams could be heard in the distance.

"Do you see? This, our goal of freedom?

Cole sees, and understands, then doesn’t; such is the way of dreams. “Yes, freedom. How can reality, as it is, be free?”

He does but he doesn’t want her to notice him so he’ll wait across the street for her to come out and then follow her super sneaky

“A tool. The construct of this world. I have yet to discover where they placed it.”

She followed. “Thank you.”

The owner nodded, then looked at Aela. “Your room is the adjacent one.”

@The Halcyon Girl

As your character approaches the camp with the man, he sees a large fire.

@DaveSouls

He frowned. Suspicious. More strange magic? He drew closer, doing his best to stay hidden.

What’s the landscape around him like? Forest, mountain, brush?

Forrest.

He could see a man, speaking to a contingent of soldiers. The man raised a hand, fire igniting in his hand. Grinning, the man threw himself into the fire, unaffected by it.

His frown deepened. Immune to fire. Trick of the light, or… actual magic?

Arel stiffens, then points at himself. “Sir, I… I don’t know how.”

“Reach inside yourself. Think of the Flame, and think of where you wish it to be. The Flame obeys the devout.”

I will obey you, should you command me.

He shivered. He’d been hired to follow this man— hired for a lot of money— and already he was regretting it. That usually didn’t happen until later.

This one was dangerous.
