I found this WoB:

Aradel (paraphrased)

I asked Brandon just how many secret societies were on Roshar.

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

There are nine currently working.

Words of Radiance release party (March 3, 2014)

The ones I can think of are:

Ghostbloods
Diagram
17th Shard
Envisagers
Sons of Honor
Skybreakers
Sleepless

That leaves 2, and I'm not even sure if the sleepless count or not, so maybe 3. Am I just forgetting some or are there still societies that we don't know about?

Edit: Forgot the Ire, that's another one.

Envisagers

I don't know if just the one group in the one town was removed, or if there are more as a whole.

There are also people working with Odium to bring the Everstorm into the PR, as seen in Venli's chapters.

I think the Sleepless count, as they are society working to protect something.

That's all I can think of

Sleepless count for sure, they are more secret than some of other organizations. Ire is another one - Elantrians, the lighthouse keeper Riino, some traders and others. But I have no idea what the last one is.

There was a Feruchemist, Gereh, watching Gavilar, then Dalinar, killed by Mraize in RoW with a spike, he could be a part of the 9th secret society. Another Feruchemist, Axindweth, was working with Gavilar, however it's unknown if she was a part of Ghostbloods - she gave Venli the gemstone containing Ulim, later fled the planet on the night of Gavilar assassination. There is also the Sixteen in the Lasting integrity and some unknown Kandra agent who is not working for Harmony. All of them are possible members of one of the listed organizations or the 9th one.

Questioner

Why did the Elantrians came to Roshar in the first place? Because the question came up after I reread Elantris, so...

Brandon Sanderson

Are you talking about... specifically... the old ones? Yeah, why were they on Roshar? So, those specific individuals - the Ire, as we call them - are a group of Elantrians that are not representing all Elantrians. They were there. The one you've met is there for a specific reason. The Ire are involved there. They're mostly... where you've seen them, is on Scadrial so far, but they're interested in Roshar. You are talking about the lighthouse keeper, I assume? So, the lighthouse keeper, wouldn't... would be counted, I guess, as one of the Ire and is there for a specific purpose, but it is not related to their general purpose, that they're trying to achieve.

How's that for being vague? I'm sorry.

In The Lost Metal, MeLaan is said to be the first kandra Harmony sent off-world. Does that mean that the kandra on Roshar are not in Harmony's employment?

Brandon Sanderson

Yes! Good way to connect the dots. That is exactly what that means.

R'Shara

Brandon, you previously said the kandra on Roshar WAS an agent of Harmony.

Brandon Sanderson

Did I? *sounds uncertain* Well... I'm changing my mind. Yeah. No. I... uhh... Nope, not an agent of-

I know exactly who this kandra is and what they're doing and yeah. I'm going to say I don't know why I said that before, but now, no.

Footnote: R'Shara is referring to this WOB where Brandon says that the kandra is an agent of Sazed

When did this happen?

I think Autonomy may have control of those Kandras not under Harmony's control.

RoW I-5:

Quote

It was an old Alethi man in robes. He’d been killed with some kind of knife wound to the chest, and lay—his eyes open—on the ground. Blood on his lips.
[...]
“Who was he?” she asked. “Wyndle, do you recognize him?”
“I believe I’ve seen him before. A minor Alethi functionary, though his eyes are different now. Curious. Look at his fingers—tan skin with bands of lighter skin. He was wearing jewelry once.”
Yes … thinking about it, she thought she recognized him. One of the old people in the tower. Retired, once an important official in the palace. She’d gone and talked to him because nobody paid attention to old people. They smelled.
