"Alright." Murr looked back at the wave nervously.

Maj begun walking slowly into the jungle, cautiously avoiding entering any large tangles of bushes, trying to get farther from the wave, machete in hand.

Aerol looked.

What's- Oh!

"We should go! Now!" She rushed towards the jungle, watching where she stepped.

First looks back, the wave almost looming on the horizon. Crap she runs after Aerol “ Wait for me!”

Evan runs after them, his fear beginning to rise. In all the time in the city he had never been forced to swim. So all he knew was how to keep himself afloat for a short period of time.

The wave towered over the beach, but it still thirsted for more destruction.

Sharlin glanced over her shoulder. "Well, I wouldn't stop moving for while yet . . . this island had better have a mountain tall enough that we don't get swept away."

The jungle was denser than that of the starting island. Darker. Vines hung from the towering, twisting trees, covered in various insects. Deathants would be even more of a problem here.

And that was probably only the least of the worries.

Moving away from the incoming wave, Maj pushes through the jungle towards higher ground.

Bird chirps urgently, and he freezes.

He slowly steps back. Bird probably noticed something that might have killed me.

Bird turns his head to the left, and Maj follows.

"You know where to go?"

Bird chirps.

"Wow. How very eloquent." Maj sighs. "Well, I think I've finally gone insane. I'm talking to my pet bird and trusting him to lead me through a deadly forest while not entirely being sure if Bird is smarter that your average melon."

Hopefully everyone else is just as insane as I am.

Maj continues pushing inwards, never checking whether Murr was following or not.

"I can't live like this for too much longer." Maj says randomly as he walks. Where did that thought come from?

He knew he wasn't doing too well. He reached into his pack, pulling out some more of the fruit he had harvested and eating it quickly. Water.

He hadn't drank anything. That's why he was still feeling terrible. Well, that and the fact that Berin had punched him in the gut thrice the night before, and he had ran for several minutes escaping a giant demon-turtle.

He stood still, silencing Bird and listening for any creeks around him.

Maybe it was the rustling of leaves, but he heard something.

Nah turned towards it, stopping and lowering his breathing to hear more clearly.

Sharuel fluttered down to sit on Sharlin's shoulder, clearly uncomfortable with the wildlife.

This place kinda reminds me of the overgrown tunnels I died in.

"That's lovely Sharp." Sharlin said, more focused on putting her feet in safe spots.

It looks haunted . . .

"Yeah no duh, mister spirit."

You know what I meant 🙄

Sharlin glanced over her shoulder. The deeper into the jungle they got, the harder it was to see the rising water, but she couldn't help herself.

"Come on . . . just break already," She whispered, squinting at the window between trees.

Maj looks apprehensively towards the setting sun. No Nightmaws last night... Can I do it again?

He looks around for a tree suitable to climb, hoping that it'll let him be safe from the Nightmaws and the rising water.
