Small streams flow down towards the ocean, and deathants' hills dotted the forest floor.

Casper carefully makes his way to the nearest stream and plops the kayak down into the water before getting into it himself and opening the items.

"At least we won't be want for water in this area," Sharlin mumbled.

She stopped to load her crossbow, pulling it back the way she had seen House soldiers do in her childhood. Sharuel landed on her shoulder, watching curiously.

I hope this place isn't haunted . . . it's creepy.

"It's haunted by default if your here."

Still, nothing bothers her.

Aerol was paddling for the small island. She kept a keen eye on the ocean depths, even if she couldn't see them that well. Reef's head was darting back and forth; he was obviously doing the same.

Several small fish had swam up around the kayak in curiosity, but they didn't seem dangerous.

Suddenly they scattered into the deep. Despite their sudden fear, nothing happened to Aerol.

The journey to the small island was otherwise uneventful.

Sharlin continued on, watching out for ants and ignoring Sharp's further attempts at a conversation. She felt the need to stay quiet in this place, for whatever reason. Sharuel seemed to agree, because he'd stopped chirping.

Things move fast!

After watching one the tributes assess their equipment on the beach and head into jungle, Winter quietly follows her, taking care to avoid the dangerous plants and insects around. She wasn't that hard to follow, as she kept talking to herself. Winter could relate to that; living by himself for the past few years, he was the only source of company around except for Fawn, his aviar. Maybe he could talk to her and make a friend and get supplies. Or things things didn't go well, try to kill her and get supplies.

Winter has lived on his own for several years. He understands the necessity of death, but he's also really lonely.

@Spark of Hope

He slowly creeps around the corner behind the bushes on his bike. “Mission Control, I’ve reached the experimental Planet X-27DF and I am witnessing history.” He backs up his bike a little. “Extraterrestrial life has been discovered and I am witnessing it with my own eyes. I’m going to try and get a closer look, over.” He moves forward and suddenly speeds up going down the hill. “Mayday! Mayday! Mission Control do you read my location! I’m going down!” He yells skidding down the hill as his front wheel catches a branch. He screams and goes flying into the ground chin first. He slides across the pavement for a few feet before halting. He coughs, starting to cry a bit, but still in shock.

She set down the pad, but rushed over. "Are you alright?"

It contained a change of clothes that better camouflaged with the jungle, a machete, fishing and trapping gear, some medical supplies, food, a water purifying system, and a smaller hunting knife.

Sharlin did not notice him, too absorbed in staying quiet and watching the forest floor.

Sharuel chirped for the first time in a little while.

"You sense something?" Sharlin whispered, rubbing his head.

He flew off in Winter's direction.

He's just bored, I'll bet.

Sharuel landed in the trees by Winter, watching him.

Blood has already begun coming out of road burn marks from his skin. He doesn’t say much he just manages to try and get up, crying. He sits up a bit, covered in blood and the left side of his face is covered in ripped skin and dripping oozing blood.

isn't Sharuel's ability physical senses?

Fawn is mental shielding, so I'm not sure this makes sense, unless he noticed Winter normally.

whatever!

Winter saw the girls aviar coming and panicked. He tried to sneak away, but somehow ended up tripping on a root and landing right in front of Sharlin.

"Uh, hello?"

"Hey!" She snapped her fingers, and a male Avox approached. "Take this boy to the medical wing. I will meet you there."

From the actual Hunger Games series, they are servants in the capitol who don't have tongues.

they're mute servants in the capitol in the hunger games books, usually normal citizens that did something bad

I was just going for normal senses, sorry. My thinking was that because he's a bird he'd have better eyesight/hearing and would sense Winter before Sharlin. If that's alright with you.

"Hi." She replied, jumping a little as he appeared.

Who was this? She aimed her crossbow at him defensively.

Sharuel returned to her shoulder.

Ah.

It's been years since I read those.

Well, I guess our new dystopia re-adopted the practice and sent some to our little GM volcano lair.

Casper grabs the machete "Wow, this'll come in handy." He packs everything back up and pushes the kayak along the stream.

If it's deep enough he's riding it, otherwise he's pushing it along in the water

It's not deep enough to ride. In fact, it's very rocky and uphill, so he'll have some trouble.

Winter slowly gets to his feet and tries to act non-agressive. It feels like he should say something, but he's not sure what.

"Are you going to kill me?"

"If you make yourself a threat," She replied.

He doesn't look particularly dangerous. He can't be older then 15, I'd say.

4 pages already??

Murr moved through the forest quietly, intuiting the best places to step and the best paths to take. He'd always been good at that. A shame it wasn't something he could have displayed to sponsors.

His new Aviar rested on his shoulder, in the break between brief flights around the nearby jungle. She provided him with information in a way he didn't really understand. Sometimes important details of his surroundings that he missed would jump out at him without explanation, or he'd almost be able to see what he was approaching before getting there.

Murr grimaced as he took a step on his right leg. He knew that the Capitol has healed the old injury, but he could swear it was acting up again.

I need something to defend myself, and soon. I can't die yet. I need to survive another day for her. Just one more day.

On a whim, he found some vines that seemed safe and pulled them down, wincing at the noise. He twisted them together, making a very makeshift cord. Maybe not a good defense, but if I can sneak up on someone... The thought made him sick to his stomach, but there was nothing the be done about it now.
