A single speargun lies close to the silvery cornucopia, along with four or five extra spears. There are a few bows and crossbows scattered around, but that's the only gunpowder firearm.

There's also a few sets of fishing gear.

@Through The Living Glass

Sharlin grabbed one of the crossbows, along with as many bolts as she could find. It was closest to something she'd used before. The speargun looks like a great way to accidentally kill yourself working out how to use it.

She dumped it in the backpack she'd just grabbed. She wouldn't take a kayak, that'd make her far to big of a target, now it was time to head back--

Aerol ran ashore, grabbed a random pack, some throwing knives, a oar off the ground, and shoved it all on a kayak.

She ignored the one that already had supplies on it. It seemed to obvious.

She stopped and eyed the other girl on the island, but didn't make any move to attack her.

Then, seeing the Speargun, she picked up a crossbow and some bolts and quickly loaded it. @J. Magi

Sharlin eyed Aeorl. She didn't want to jump in the water and turn her back on a loaded weapon.

"Hey there! . . . what's your name?"

Negotiation? From you? That's surprising.

"Oh shut up," She mumbled.

"Wanna be friends? We have . . . silmilar tastes," Sharlin said, nodding at her crossbow.

That's a terrible reason to ally with someone.

"Are you going to sit there and criticize me, or are you going to actually give good advice?"

Technically I'm not sitting, I'm standing nearby, you just can't see my cognitive form. ;)

"Right."

Casper runs for a while before finally giving in to the temptation of the cornucopia. I can be sneaky, probably... He makes his way back to the cornucopia and sneakily swims to the island.

I love how he telepathically winked tho

What? That's terrible reasoning, Aerol thought.

"Just go away," she said. She wasn't about to trust someone when they both had loaded weapons. She inched towards her kayak. @J. Magi

Aerol stood near a blue plastic kayak, her eyes on Sharlin, who was on the far side of the island.

Near him was a very sturdy orange kayak, with a pack of supplies on the front, a pair of oars, and a backup pair stored on the side. Various other supplies and weapons were scattered around.

"I don't like that plan, you might stab me in the back . . . I'd hate to shed blood so early in the games." Her voice had a threatening edge. Aeorl would have a fantastic advantage shooting a swimmer from her kayak . . . maybe Sharlin should just stay on the cornucopia till after she left . . .

Well, well, well, there are the violent tendencies we were all expecting.

So much for waiting around, the party was getting started, it seemed.

Time to make a decision!

Sharlin hesitated.

Casper gets onto the island. He notices two people in a standoff and decide to take the kayak. Sliding it into the water while swimming underneath to hopefully avoid notice. He emerges from the other side and grabs the kayak firmly with both hands before running away.

"I . . . fine."

She backed away a few steps, swinging her bag onto her shoulder.

"Peacefully," She stressed as she moved closer to the water, not breaking eye contact.

Wow, you're really going to trust her, huh?

"It's not a matter of trust, it's neither-of-us-want-to-end-up-injured-this-early."

You're so kind and merciful, my dear.

Sharlin rolled her eyes. She wasn't actually sure if he could see her do that, but whatever.

She jumped back into the waves, hopefully before Aerol changed her mind and decided to attack. Sharuel took off from the beach, following her from the sky.

It's like A-Pewter, except the bird is granting it. It'll usually happen when it's agitated, but if it's trained well you can ask for it when you need it. It can't be constantly provided, but will give a burst of extra ability when needed.

Well, that was easy.

She set her crossbow in her kayak, and the other girl paddled away.

Before anyone else could get there, she ran around the beach, grabbing as many crossbow bolts as she possibly could. She also grabbed another pack, because why not.

She hopped on her kayak and headed north.

Her aviar landed on the front of the kayak as she paddled. He didn't have a name.

Vistari watched the games with fascination. It was interesting how so many people were reticent to kill. Gladly her plants weren't. She couldn't wait for someone to wander into the jungle...

"No bloodshed yet. I suppose we'll have to wait for them to overcome their... fear."

Sharlin continued to swim back to the beach, taking note of the fish in the water. Maybe later in a more secluded spot she should try fishing.

Hopefully her backpack had something useful in it. She was already cursing herself for not thinking to grab a knife.

When she got back to the shore, she didn't hurry into the forest, despite the nearness of the other tributes.

Carful of the vines, you never know when they might strangle you to death.

"Noted," She said, approaching the first few trees. She stared inside and looked for anything potentially hazardous. Sharlin decided against rushing in, and instead started moving down the coast, heading down the mostly eastern side, according to her map.

Sharuel landed on her shoulder, curious.

"Where do you think we should go?"

He chirped in reply.

"Very helpful."

Ask me! Ask me!

"You already told me to avoid the plants."

Yeah, but I need more attention then that . . .

"Oh for heavens sake . . . you're both useless."

It's not my fault I'm lonely 🥲

Berin studied the tributes and their approach to the Cornucopia. Too many there. I’ll need to find other supplies.

Silently, he circles around the island, searching for any supplies, and watching for danger. He watched them in the corner of his eyes, careful not to miss anything they see.

He was careful to avoid any other tributes, but did note the ones nearest him.

A line of rough waves marked where the barrier reef separated the bay from the rest of the ocean.

What do you mean by "circles the island"? Because the island they're on is huge...

Some black birds circle in the sky, almost as though they’re waiting for something.

After several minutes of walking, Sharlin stopped on the beach and sat down.

There wasn't anyone around at the moment, so it was probably safe.

She pulled off her bag, and started digging around in it. She pulled out the crossbow and bolts she'd thrown in their, and carefully set them on the grass.

You definitely should've grabbed a close-range weapon.

"I know, I already realized that . . . I'm not a complete idiot."

She turned back to the bag. assessing it's contents.
