She overheard them. She knew this wasn’t a good situation. She fully encased herself in thick vines.

What could she do?

Wait- she’d seen that halfling from the other tree… Nera, wasn’t it?

~~

A small vine emerged at Nera’s feet.

The bandit released his bow, and his arrows slammed into her vine cocoon, making the whole thing shake. She could her the other bandits still climbing up to her.

-----

Nera saw the vine emerge and nearly tripped over it. "What the . . . "

She breathed deeply, trying not to panic.

It seemed to be pointing.

Nera's followed it, and she spotted a tree with a weird vine thing in it, bandits completely surrounding it.

She'd have to get closer to take a shot, so she crept along the edge of the woods, still staying out of site.

When she got there, it was clear there were to many for her to shoot on her own, and they'd definitely spot her after one shot. She stopped, looking up, unsure what to do.

“What are you all even here for?” she asked.

Eublech follows Nera.

"I can distract them, if we need it."

With her sharp ears, Lusha could barely hear them. She drew no attention to them.

"There's ten of them, and three of us," Nera replied nervously. That seemed beyond her.

"Why don't--why don't you try and take out a few, I'll run into the woods and shoot from there so it's harder for them to find me. Hopefully that'll be enough to give Lusha an opening?"

Nera made her decision, creeping further into the woods, and moving around Lusha's tree.

She shot a bolt at one of the bandits and it got him in the knee. The others were confused, assuming that it had somehow come from Lusha. Nera managed to hit a second one in the eye, taking him out completely, before they realized there was someone else in the woods.

She heard the confusion, but kept waiting for a better opportunity.

Sometime after the second watch ended, you all wake to the sound of footsteps creeping between the tents.

Unfamiliar men talk in hushed voices.

Someone starts to scream, but is abruptly cut off.

The soft glow of torches came throw the fabric walls of your tent.

. . .

Nera woke quietly, trying to keep her breathing under control. She had no idea what to do, if she was the only one awake then she couldn't just go out and fight them all. As slowly and as quietly as possible, she starting to pull out her crossbow and load it.

Tenth looks over from on top of the wagon.

The dude is flung. He hits the ground with a practiced roll.

"Mami, those magic thingies are strong," He tells the woman.

Mami nods, watching 3 more of the other bandits climb up. "We've got her surrounded, she'll run out of mana or something."

Another man nearby loads a bow of his own, aiming at Lusha.

Tenth sees Lusha surrounded, and decides to help. He sends a bolt through the head of one, and reloaded for a second attack.

He falls to the ground dead. Their archer turns and fires at Tenth.

Tenth swears, and ducks back behind the curve of the wagon top.

The arrow slams into one of the wagon's wooden boards. Another one is fired, closer to getting him but the wagon make a good shield.

There are not, the bandits are mostly gathered around the center fire pit, and Lusha's tree.

Tenth slips down off the wagon, then crawls down stealthily under the wagon. He sent a bolt at the archers head.

I’m hoping the archer will be focusing up there.

It works, and they don't seem him move, but his shot misses because of the awkward positioning.

*sigh*

I had considered that.

Tenth finches back, throwing himself back and out from under the wagon. Jumping onto the side of the wagon, he loaded again, then jumped back up, aiming in carefully.

Men and women in dark clothing had surrounded the camp. It was a much larger group then the ones they'd faced earlier that day.

A man stood by the dying firepit; he was giving orders and receiving reports in a way that made him seem in charge.

The wagons were Lady Genuhk and Master Igenes slept were silent, and they weren't visible. They probably hadn't woken yet.

Alvar quickly awakens, freezing himself a sword and shield before even getting up. He hears a scream. I hope I don’t have to cut my losses. This would have been a good job.
Alvar smoothly rolls to his feet and behind a tree, assessing the situation. His water is dangerously low from practicing; he’d have to resort to blood. Even if his companions can’t pick people off one at a time, he maybe can - he quickly finds the bandit furthest from the others and, moving with smooth, lethal speed, closes the gap and attempts a killing sweep with his serrated sword.

The arrow flies, and hits one of them, but it get's him in the arm and isn't lethal.

This man let's out a loud squal of pain as the sword slashed up into him. Halfheartedly he swings his sword. There's very little power behind it, but the blade is sharp, and it grazes Alvar's arm.

Eublech, seeing the bandits noticing Nera's spot, runs out with a dagger and stabs one of the bandits in the chest.

The bandit dodges at the last minute, and the knife sinks into his leather pauldron. He grabs Eublech's wrist with a gloved hand and rips the knife out, throwing Eublech onto the ground in one motion. In seconds another bandit was on top of him, pinning him down.

-----

Nera ran through the trees, circling around the camp. She had two bandits on her tail and both of them were gaining on her. Short legs weren't her ally in this situation.
