Alvar drops the herbs in his arms, keeping only the ones he needs to do the task himself. There is a better herb for the task in the pile, but the one he selected would work as an antiseptic. “So do I. I’ve lived off the land before, you know.”

Dint nodded. “So have I… I’ve used to only ever live off the land…”

So my character’s a wood elf, you prob be able to notice that.

Well, good for you. At least there’s nobody to bother you out in the woods. Usually, I mean.” Alvar sounds annoyed about something.

Alvar doesn’t really care; he’s interacted with many people far from their intended place of origin. He actually thinks you’re underestimating him because he isn’t a wood elf. (he’s a second generation hybrid of sharkfolk, mountain elf, and some other things even he doesn’t know, so he doesn’t really get an assumed skill; which is probably for the best, actually.)

"I can make a tonic to help with the pain later . . ." Nera suggested from where she stood on her team's wagon. She had her crossbow loaded, but it was lowered.

There weren't any more actively attacking bandits left, the only ones left alive had either run off, or were lying on the road groaning.

"Well . . . at least it didn't seem to hard."

"Would you please?" Eublech flinched. "I mean- not please. Yeah. Just do that." He makes a grumpy face and looks away from her.

Ha. No, I’m not (really) consciously underestimating him, but my past is a bit of a sore spot. (I’m an exile)

Dint nodded. “If only I could return. I once thought that fact to be a bane, but now… I would give anything to return.”

Alvar gets close to not saying anything and simply storming off. Something beyond his external aggressive disinterest moves him to say, “I miss my parents, too.”

Alvar shrugs, but is smiling broadly, displaying his multiple canines and bleeding other teeth. Unless the man knew how to neutralize slime acid (flame, cold, or salt could do it easily, but the solution of “stick your hands into a fire” was neither well known nor intuitive), it simply wouldn’t come off. His flesh would corrode eventually, but with the low potency acid, it would be days of agony before that happened.
He bandages the glancing crossbow bolt wound, then recovers his gathered herbs. “I’m not used to fighting people; monsters usually don’t shoot at you. I should get some practice in…”

"That wasn't so bad," Nera said, hoping off the cart and running over to check on them. "But I worry about the ones that got away, they might come back with bigger forces?"

"At the very least we've made ourselves known . . . other bands might target us now," Calum added quietly from where he stood to the side.

Master Igenis hopped out of his wagon, moving to inspect the bodies of the dead bandits.

Lady Genuhk made several notes on a pad of paper from inside her wagon. "Are we ready to start moving again? We need to find a place to camp before the sun starts to set."

“True, perhaps this will draw more bandits. But it will discourage weaker groups, which may be for the better; continental attacks would wear us down.” Alvar searches the bodies of the bandits for anything potentially useful or redeemable for bounty. “Why should we make camp? I don’t know much about horses, but if they could continue on we’d make better time if we went on through the night.”

The bodys only have basic travelling supplies on them. A tinderbox, some small blunt knives, a cloak with patches on it, some dry moldy-looking rations. You should already have this sort of thing, but you can take it if you want.

"I don't want to be on the open road after dark," Nera said, "We'd be a huge target. It'd be much better to camp so that we're less noticeable. There will certainly be more bandits once the sun sets."

Calum nodded in agreement. "And it's not like we're in any rush to get to the city. Making good time is fine but we should prioritize safety on a mission like this."

Alvar sighs, both at the lack of supplies and the need to wait. “Very well.” he says, gathering crossbow bolts and the best crossbow. He’d practice later; it was difficult to protect a stationary target without effective ranged attacks.

I believe there were two archers. One ran off intact, and one surrendered, dropped his weapons, and ran away when he realized slime acid is “harmless” (he’s wrong). Alvar is taking that crossbow, if only one is there.

What is she thinking? I can- No. I can’t do this myself. She can help me. “That would be… helpful. What do you want in return?”

That attitude would cost her a lot, on the streets. But maybe it is good, if others act the same. “… thank you. We can practice when we make camp, and I can finally spar with Sleeper. I am in your debt, I suppose. It truly is a shame that only one of us can get the job.”

"Your welcome! And once again, you're not in my debt at all, don't worry about it."

She gave him another smile and ran off to her wagon, climbing up into the back where her bag was.

After everyone was ready, the wagon's began moving again. The sun sank low in the sky as the went, but they saw no more bandits. Eventually, Calum spotted a nice clearing in a wooded spot just off the road. It was the best camping spot they'd come across all night, so they decided to stop there.

Lady Genuhk quickly got a fire going, and Master Igenes started working on a lovely smelling soup.

"Good work everyone," Lady Genuhk called once they had finished making the meal and set up camp. "Everyone did well today, and we're impressed on the efficiency of both teams."

With that, she sat down and started munching on her stew. Master Igenes passed around the other bowls.
