Lady Genuhk just shrugged as she climbed inside. She clearly didn't seem to mind.

"Which one do you think you'll do best?" Nera asked.

Calum grinned, and hopped onto the red wagon.

"I think I will walk" Arranis says, getting his vial out, and scrawling a few symbols on his boots with the red substance that was inside. "Lets go" he says, a spring in his step.

"I can carry you." Eublech says. Then he realized that was kinda nice of him so he scowled along with it. No friends. That's... a no.

"Oh, thanks but like I said I can just ride in the wagon, you wouldn't want your hands full if we get attacked," Nera explained, surprised he had offered.

Spoiler

Name: Reivoki Windbraid

Race (fantasy or normal or whatever): Half-Dwarf Half-Human

Appearance: Shorter than all other humans, Clean-shaven, blacksmith's build, and long black hair.

Personality: Grumpy most of the time. Goes off on his own a lot. He always loves a good drink.

Skills: Can magically mold metal with his hands. Taking broken weapons and fixing them. Good with the sword.

Weapon of choice: Father's sword. (It has some runes carved in it but he doesn't understand them.)

Background: Born in a multi race village father died when he was little leaving him with his mom. Got married to a nice elf woman and had kids (3 girls and one baby boy). His mother is now really old and usually just gets mad at him all the time. He just got fired from his job as a town blacksmith and is trying to find a way to provide for his family.

Other/favorite food/cool jokes: Don't ask him why he doesn't have a beard if he is part dwarf he's self-conscious about it.

Is this good?

The wagons started moving, each driven by an assistant in the standard servant guard you've seen around the City Hall.

The horses moved at a steady enough pace that you can stand in the wagon while it's moving, but that may change when you get to unpaved roads.

The two wagons turn towards the open side of the courtyard, leaving the hall behind and joining the traffic on the street. The blue wagon is in front, the red wagon is right behind it.

The crowd on the streets has died down a bit, now that the morning rush is over. It's about noon, and the sun beats down on the smooth stone-paved road.

Nera disliked how warm it was here.

Alvar stays close to the wagons; once they get out into the countryside he'll widen his patrols. He's already sweating under the sun, and realizes he hasn't eaten lunch yet. Hopefully there will be rations in the wagons, or food to forage for.

Eublech stood silently at the side of the wagon, watching his surroundings. He didn't like how quiet it was.

Yes!! Sorry, I've been trying to go slow with the developments because there are so many people and want to make sure people have a chance to do stuff between my posts.

That said, we can definitely skip ahead to some action that will hopefully be less tedious . . . I realize I'm not doing the best job running this, but hopefully it'll get better.

After several minutes, the city slowly fell away as buildings spread out. An hour or two later, and they were out on the open road, following a wide highway that lead to their destination.

The sun sank a little, as afternoon came upon them and shadows grew.

The highway cut into a thick wood after passing the last of the farms. The trees cast long shadows over the road. Any other traffic had died away, and the wagons were alone on the road.

A little while later a dark figure dashed out from the side of the road, stopping in the middle in front of the party.

They had up a hand, and raised a crossbow threateningly. A few other masked people poked out of the woods. Bandits, very unexpected I know.

Nera squinted at them. Their clothing looked strange, like intentional costumes. Had the city not wanted to hire real mercenaries to test them, and instead settled for theatre players? Well it would make her job easier.

She loaded her crossbow.

Eublech dipped a dart in poison he had prepared in advanced, then loaded it into his blowgun, readying it to fire.

These did not seem like real bandits to him.

Dint whispered quietly to the lower level. “Bandits.”

He, since he had been prepared, immediately shot the man in the leg. A warning.

The man gasped in pain and sunk to his knees. A masked person ran out onto the road.

"Stop! Let's not have this in violence yeh?" He held an unsheathed sword. "There are many of us, and we just want to take what's ours--no hurting no hurting."

Nera frowned. His accent was thick and she didn't recognize it. She trained her crossbow on him, waiting to see if he made a move.

"What's going on?" Lady Genuhk asked from inside the red wagon. She poked her head out. "Oh . . ."

It impaled itself in the man's arm.

It felt good to get his feelings out. He breathed out contentedly.

Alvar is sweeping the woods on the side of the woods for monsters. He’s unlucky, however, and is on the wrong side. He has found a juvenile forest slime digesting a fallen log (he killed it - those things get out of hand fast when they reach maturity), some edible roots, and some herbs he’s pretty sure are ingredients for healing potions. Walking back to deposit his gains, he freezes at the tree line upon seeing the bandits.

Alvar waits; he’d rather capture the bandits or run them off, but best to see what the plan is before starting conflict.

Dint seeing that the man had been darted, immediately shot the leg of another bandit he saw on the side of the road. He retreated behind the wagon too, and pulled a vial from his pouch, dipping a bolt in the solution.

”Both teams have engaged.” He said this through the hole in the wagon.

how long before the poisen kicks in?

About half a dozen bandits ran out of the woods towards the wagon, weapons drawn.

Someone still behind the tree-line shot an arrow at Eublech. Nera shot a bolt in their direction, but she couldn't see if she hit.

Another arrow shot through the air at him.

The first of the bandit's reached the blue wagon (which was in front), and they started to climb on.

Alvar drops his herbs and flicks his wrist, opening the water nozzles. He dashes towards the archer in an erratic pattern, a serrated ice blade freezing into existence. The archer needed taking out.
