Alvar looks slightly upset, although he’s glad that the pompous elf isn’t in his group.

Alvar wrote “I can explain” next to his name.
The end result of his background check is a bunch of “accessory to collateral damage” charges, a minor bounty for tax evasion after he spent a year or two living off the land, and a charge for “tax evasion fraud” when he split the bounty with a random tavern owner and used it to pay his own bail. He also has a charge or two for misleading weapons declarations, and turned the entire leadership of a street gang in to the city watch. It notes wonton vigilante-ism and that he has a very good lawyer, preventing further charges. That being said, it’s a very adventuring-related list of crimes, and doesn’t imply that he’d betray the duke.

“I’m a melee fighter, and I’m decently fast. I can either take down people who get too close, or I can take out people behind cover. Is Calum even coming?
What happens to the reject group? Do they just get kicked from the RP? Maybe they could run or join the mysterious home invaders…

Alvar smiles viscously, revealing his two layers of canines and occasionally bleeding other teeth. He cracks his neck, then flicks his wrist. Water runs out of the nozzle of his custom leather armor’s vambrace. “How about a ‘warm up’. It’ll be good for us…” The water forms into a sword shape, then freezes, turning cloudy and crystalline as chilling wind rushes toward it. The process takes one or two seconds, and leaves Alvar with a similarly dangerous-looking sword. It’s serrated on both edges, and has barbs on the flat of the blade that would make cutting both inefficient and highly painful. It’s long and relatively wide, giving it as much reach and weight as can be utilized without needing two hands. “We’d best do this outside. We wouldn’t want to scare the duke.”

I’ve realized Alvar and Sleeper are almost the same person. I don’t think either of them will back down, so there’ll either be intervention or blood.

Alvar continues to smile menacingly, striding purposefully toward the exit as he preforms the wrist twitch again, creating a barbed ice blade for his other hand. "I think it will be you. Blood makes ice just as well as water. The swords are like this for a reason." Alvar turns to a passing servant. "Does the duke have healing potions? Bring a couple and put them on my tab; that guy will need them, and I want to be back in top shape for the challenge. And some injury poisons as well; whatever liquid ones you can find." Turning to the other three adventurers, he assures them, "I won't be using them on him. That's a waste of poison. If the servant can't find any, can you get me some supplies?" He tosses one of his two golden coins - 100 silver at face value - to Lusha. @Spark of Hope @TwinSouls @J. Magi

okay so

I am 100% making this up as I go, but be assured that no one will be kicked out of the RP, that'd be a bad choice as a GM on my part. The reason for the contest is to make things more fun, the alternative being . . . interviews and displays which would be tedious and boring.

Just assume for ooc knowledge that things aren't going to go as planned, and all the players will be able to be involved in the story as things progress.

Callum watched his group from a few paces away, clearly not ecstatic at having to work with others. He didn't stop them or react as Sleeper and Alvar began arguing.

"Excuse me?" Lerren was there, standing next to Sleeper and Alvar. "Your can't order servants around here, your not there boss." He looked offended. "As for any potions or poisons for the test, you must acquire them yourselves, if you get hired, then you will be supplied by the state."

"If your going to fight, please do it outside in a space where no one will get hurt, Duke Ehlu won't be held accountable for any casualties. Feel free to duel, if that's what you want, but please note that your every action is being recorded for the inspection and judgement of Lady Genuhk." He made a few notes in on a notepad he was holding.

Nera hopped off her chair, and went over to Eublech, Heartache, and Reivoki. @Ancient Elantrian @Just_a_Fan @BrechioSwordMouse.

"Umm do we want to do anything before the test begins?"

"We should make a plan," Allen said, approaching the group. He was a tall, strong looking half elvish man with a bow slung over his shoulder.

"That will be difficult seeing as we don't know what the challenge is," Nera replied.

@TheRavenHasLanded

Alvar grits his teeth. “They have points. As much as I hate to back down from a challenge, we should do this later. We have other people to fight, and we haven’t yet been given the funds to waste of a half dozen healing potions.” Alvar looks around for an actual exit so he doesn’t pour a bunch of water on the carpet. “I’d like my gold back now.”

Y’all mind if I join this? I have a character if not. Let me know if this is too similar, or doesn’t fit, etc.

Spoiler

Name: Dint

Race (fantasy or normal or whatever): Wood elf

Appearance: Tall, green eyes. Wears a brown coat, with moss & other plants growing through it. Between its two fabrics, simple armor. Has a pouch of various vials, and a crossbow and bolts.

Personality: Quiet, intense. Very serious, and recognizes jokes, but resents them. Loyal, though. Wishes (but isn’t good at) to be an inventor.

Skills: Sharpshooter, stealthy. Recognizes viable places to keep watch, herbal skills. Slight healing powers.

Weapon of choice: Crossbow. Although unseen, he does have some daggers too.

Background: Always been curious of the outside world, the world that hated the wood elves. One day he brought back a contraption from when he snuck out. Was violently punished for it. Not to be discouraged, he started practicing with another, the crossbow, which none of his people had seen. After many years, when people found out, he was exiled. Has since been just taking jobs to get money.

Other/favorite food/cool jokes: Even though he’s fascinated by it, he has no idea how technology works (also, this guy is like a medieval version of his namesake, unintentionally)
