Niamh ran down the street and retrieved her horse from a stable. She paid the stable hand, rode back to where the burned-out tavern was, and tied her instruments to the saddle.

I mean, I was going to leave tomorrow anyway... she thought.

The actual backstory (which Arke doesn’t know) is her father owed Robert a debt he couldn’t pay monetarily, so Robert forcibly enslaved his newborn daughter
