Does anyone think the climax of the Cosmere may be the reformation of Adonalsium?

If yes, who would hold the power?

My bet would be on Hoid.

I agree that this would be the logical direction that such a climax will take us, and agree that it would be suitably fulfilling. However, considering the type of author Brandon is, I believe he would be likely to throw out a cliche in that sense and use a more complicated storyline. I would be excited for both; however, when extra complications are thrown into the mix of such an already tense moment, you could hopefully create an even more satisfying ending that makes sense overall.

But yeah. Hoid as the Cosmere Overfather would be really cool. I want it to happen just because it would be really cool to see all the Shards reassembled.

Let me know if you thought this helpful!

How do you think it will end then?

I certainly think that is Hoids goal or tangentially his goal.

I think we will learn a lot about Ado and the shattering eventually, however I don't think the climax of the story or any of the story really will be focused on Ado reforming or anything like that. We know that Ado created the Cosmere so this story is ultimately what happens when God (god? who knows! 😁) is killed, and fallible mortals are left to control that power.

There's also the numbers part of it all. There are 16 shards. Currently at least 5 of them are splintered. There are at least 5 that we have virtually no information on at the moment. This is not even to mention the aethers. I don't think that some of those shards will be seen in major effect for a long time and that there won't really be a final storyline or real conclusion. The Cosmere is a big place with a lot of different peoples. All these missing shards leave areas for Brandon to tell new stories.

For example, there are hints of a Scadrian / Rosharan conflict. I really dont see that conflict being resolved by the combination of all those shards. It will be a generation spanning ill-will with different resolutions and conflicts at different points in history. Potentially even a uniting against a more Cosmere wide threat, that type of thing.

Did Adonalsium ever had the Vessel, or was it just investiture that gained sentience on its own, Vesselless? We don't know. Hoid seems to be the type that does not want to hold that kind of power - he rejected an offer to become a Shard during the Shattering, I don't think he will become Adonalsium if it needs a Vessel. I personally believe Adonalsium was without any Vessel.

I see Cosmere going in either of two paths - reformation of Adonalsium, or Splintering Shard to even smaller pieces, so no mortal would ever be able to hold powers of gods in their hands. Reformation of Adonalsium seems like a too obvious thing to end up this way and I certainly don't want to see Hoid wielding the power of all 16 Shards combined.

I believe that it will end with Adonalsium on the verge of being reformed, and our current protagonists find out why Adonalsium was Shattered in the first place. However, the reason details why they shouldn't reform Adonalsium, and they have to use all of their effort stopping it happen. Something along those lines; the twist Brandon adores where the problem isn't actually problem and something that was seemingly irrevelant becomes the solution. (Mistborn Era 1)
