RedLitnig1 Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 Hello Everyone, I'm using a variation of my gaming tag...the site glitched initially so I had to add a 1. Anywho... So far I have loved every book I have read by Brandon, starting way back when with Elantris. I am an avid reader. I started as a kid hating to read...was able to fudge our required book reports by reading the back summary, front page summary, and usually the first page or so and the last page of the book. Then I got grounded for a quarter (for bad grades ironically) and my aunt conned me into reading A Spell for Chameleon by Piers Anthony. Different type of book than I ever tried to read before...I was hooked. I read and read...at one point, my parents even said why not put down the book and watch some TV? That was back in the late '70s or early '80s. I've been reading non-stop since. Primarily I read fantasy novels, but I splash in some SF here and there, along with some historical fiction too. So I like to read then re-read the books to see if I missed anything. Sometimes I'll read the same book 3 to 5 times before moving on. 2
Through The Living Glass She/They Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 Hey there! Welcome to the Shard! If you could visit any country on Roshar for a week, which country would it be and why?
Aeternum Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 Welcome to the Shard! Favorite and least favorite characters?

How many of the Cosmere books have you read thus far? I assume most if not all, but better to check anyway. Also, which magic system is your favorite and why?

As a reader...where else would I go??? I liked that question! 22 hours ago, Aeternum said: Welcome to the Shard! Favorite and least favorite characters? Hi Aeternum, I think the obvs answer is Kaladin, but I think I lean more towards either Dalinar or Adolin. Dalinar because, same as Kaladin, the complexity of the character yet single drive of purpose. Adolin I like because even without having abilities, he is exceptional. All of Brandon's characters show evolution and growth, and I find that more than evident in this series. Least...i'd have to say Moash so far. Though, and purely speculation, I think we can expect some self-introspection from him as well. 2 hours ago, Trusk'our said: Nice to have you friend! I haven't read the graphic novels (other than the text version in the Arcanum Unbounded) I believe that is the only Cosmere book I have not read. I loved the Mistborn series, and I'd have to say I love that magic system. Something about the ingestion of metals to open a realm of abilities is wonderful to me, and just like so many of Brandon's systems...seem to have a bit of realism to them. A very close second is the Rosharan system of magic. Replenishing the stones by leaving them in the High Storm gives it a sense of limitation...they have all this power, yet limited by the number of stones...unless Dalinar is near. They don't have luck on Scadrial...unless you are near a mineral deposit and you have a sense of Pica... 3
