Voidus Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Maybe...maybe MV would find that sweet? The ship must be saved! Realizing that she has the power to simultaneously creep him out and make him scared of her would probably guarantee that she spent all day planning how best to ambush him at every opportunity to make him uncomfortable What series was that? Also, any power ideas for an Epic named Soulflicker? Of course I do Soulflicker: Primary ability: Life sense- Can sense the life force of all other living things relative to her own. Secondary ability: Mind swap- can transfer the consciousness of any two living things into eachothers' bodies, though she cannot use this ability on herself or anyone with an immunity to her life sense. Or if you wanted the vampire route: Soulflicker: Primary ability: Life drain- Soulflicker can touch a person and drain away the core aspect of that person's life, for newlyweds this often manifests as their love for their partner, after extended contact with Soulflicker they will be incapable of ever loving that person again. Passive ability: Aura drain- Soulflicker passively drains the emotions and memories of those around him, he has no control over what is drained but he receives the memories and emotions he drains from others. 1

Passive ability: Aura drain- Soulflicker passively drains the emotions and memories of those around him, he has no control over what is drained but he receives the memories and emotions he drains from others. Oooohhh, I think I'll combine that with what I have so far. Epic Name: Soulflicker Primary Ability: Can drain the life force of those he chooses; can drain up to 3 people at a time and his power is restricted to vanillas; those he drains go into a trance-like state throughout this process; he can choose whether to leave them alive and weakened or drain them completely; his strength is proportionate to how much strength and how many people he has drained recently Secondary Ability: Blood control—Blood contact with a person speeds the draining process. Drinking a sample of their blood would kill them instantly, granting him their strength Passive Ability: Life-sensing—Soulflicker can sense the strength of those around him; Epics emit a somewhat stronger "signal" than vanillas How's that sound? Creepy enough? I'm hoping he's more Dracula than Edward Cullen, but if you tell me he's more like Count Von Count than Edward Cullen, I'll be happy with that too. 3
Voidus Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Looks good to me, and now to create another Epic using the leftover powers 1
Kobold King he/him Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I like him too! Just one question, is strength the only attribute he's able to sap? There have been so many ideas bandied about I have a hard time keeping up. Also I lied about the whole "just one question thing." Are you planning on bringing him into the RP?

There have been so many ideas bandied about I have a hard time keeping up. Also I lied about the whole "just one question thing." Are you planning on bringing him into the RP? I'm trying to decide on that one. Maybe if he drinks someone's blood, he gains their memories, but simply draining them grants him some of their strength, skills, and intelligence? I don't want to give him an excuse to drink the blood of every single person under his thumb and just become this amazing super-Epic, so none of the effects would be permanent. Twenty-four hours, tops, though probably shorter than that, depending on how much he uses at once. If that makes sense. Sort of. He's a backstory Epic.
Voidus Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Epic name: SlontzePrimary power: Life sap-drains away the most important thing in a person's life by touching them.Passive power: Aura Sap- Emits an aura which passively drains the emotions and memories of all those near him, giving him their emotions and experiences, extended contact leads to those nearby becoming the husks of a human, with no memory and becoming incapable of expressing emotion.Bio: The lonliest of all the Epics, no town will accept his presence for any extended period of time, he wonders from town to town glutting himself on the emotions of those present and then leaves before drawing the ire of any ruling Epics. 3
Seonid he/him Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 And another Ranger/Arvin Weeks post is up. Mostly Arvin, trying to be badchull but missing only slightly because pistols don't penetrate ceramic body armor very well. Also, unicorns! In Oregon! This RP just got a whole lot more ponyfied.

I was thinking of doing a Miner post. What were your plans for after the platform fell? I'm imagining Miner hanging on to the edge of a chasm that he had just opened up, laughing evily as he pulled himself out. Also, is Miner working for or against Ironmonger? 1

I'm imagining Miner hanging on to the edge of a chasm that he had just opened up, laughing evily as he pulled himself out. Also, is Miner working for or against Ironmonger? That sounds wonderful. If you hadn't claimed him, I was just going to kill him in the crash, so as far as plans go, he's scot free. Miner is a free agent right now. However, he is the kind that would prefer working for Ironmonger to working for Vondra or someone of his ilk. Quicksilver has too little ambition for him. Actually, let's put it this way. Miner would have worshipped the ground Koschei walked on. Ironmonger is moving towards trying to set himself up as a god. This alone would likely attract him. Actually, after you've got a Miner post or two out, if you wanted to collaborate on a Miner/Ironmonger post, that might be a really good way to introduce the villain.

Then my idea should work. And that miner/Ironmonger post idea sounds awesome. 1
Edgedancer he/him Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Wait...a temporary hemalurgist? O.o?? As long as he gives out cookies I approve. Sounds more like a fusion of Hemalurgy and Feruchemy. Voidgaze is kind of one with her white arm tassels. I never thought about it that way... She lacks the color though. You mean like my theory that, not only do they take place in the same universe, but that Firefight is actually a sequel to Steelheart? I was just planning on having him reflect on how willing she was to come with him, how he's glad he was the one who found her instead of some unsavory hobo (or worse: Lightwards), and how she doesn't say much during the ride, just stares at everything and answers his questions with "yes," "no," or silence. Does that sound right? Intriguing, up until now all your theories seemed to be spot on, tell me more. I just realized that an assassination attempt on Reader would have to be a surprise, otherwise he'd know everything about it. "Here, Reader, I refilled your wine goblet." "Nope. You poisoned it. You drink it" *forces it down person's thoat* "Here, Reader, I made some cake for you." "Nope. It's explosive cake. You can just take that outside and ask Quicksilver if he wants any." "Here, Reader, I'm your new bodyguard for today." "Nope. You're going to shoot me. Why don't you go tell Vondra about your plan to kill me?" There´s always the option to just walk into his office and punch his face in right then. TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 25, 2014 Author Posted October 25, 2014 Intriguing, up until now all your theories seemed to be spot on, tell me more. I also have a working theory that David, far from being a fly-on-the-wall narrator, is actually the protagonist and main character of the entire series. There´s always the option to just walk into his office and punch his face in right then. Now you're thinking with portals. Which could be used here. Portal + portal + distance = infinity punches without retaliation. Sounds not-sparkingly perfect. I usually love sparkles as much as the next girl (though not nearly as much as Doctor Funtimes) but in this case, sparkles are a bad thing. 1

Wow... and here I was expecting something ordinary, like Nighthound´s weakness being beacon, which it isn´t by the way. Sience with Reader. Don´t worry no sparkles here, just nightmare fuel. TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 25, 2014 Author Posted October 25, 2014 Hello Hey, is there any way you could edit your last two The Dalles posts to take out the quotes? It kind of messes with the flow of the thread.
Edgedancer he/him Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I fixed them. Goody. Mind if I ask if Cassie/Mistwraith´s healing factor can 1)heal fatal wounds and 2)be suppressed if she moved, either really fast or by a teleporter? Now excuse me while I file a restraining order agains all lawyers, who Voidus claims are worse than Nighthound, and wait for circlet mocking to happen.
Kobold King he/him Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Currently writing up a Portland post to get my characters up to date for the time skip. Sam's flashback has been pushed back a little since so much else is going on. It should be seen once she returns to Tillamook after the Altermind meeting. General question, do Lightwards' and Backtrack's POVs have noticeably different tones? I try to keep Lightwards' scenes written in a more crisp, methodical style, while with Backtrack I strive for a rambling stream-of-consciousness style with loads of figurative speech. Does that come through at all?

Tell me, would Lightwards ever whine?

The quiet hum of conversation ceased when Lucentia appeared in the doorway. She stood there a moment, clasping her hands behind her back, and strode forward. If silence could be made more complete, it was; not a pair of eyes was averted from her as she glided primly into the room. She smiled. All was as it should be. It took the vanillas a moment to gather their wits, but the uncouth hunter was the first to speak. "Lucentia, what the Calamity is on your head?" Lucentia glared, contemplating what shade of diamond to trap him in. Red, perhaps. "This," she said slowly, "is a circlet." The unwashed hippie lifted an eyebrow. "I think he knows what a circlet is." "Then why did he ask?" "'Cause I ain't seen one of those since Koschei the Deathless. And to be honest, he looked a whole lot better in it than you do." Lucentia's eyes narrowed. Black diamond for certain. They would never find the body. "I don't believe I asked for your opinion." "Yeah, well, you got it anyway." "I'd have to disagree with you, Remington." That was from the goth whose purple-painted lips slowly drew themselves into a smile. "I saw pictures, and I think she looks just like Koschei did. Very mannish." "Well, I'd disagree with both of you," said the unwashed hippie. "She reminds me of a woman I once knew. A beautiful, regal woman." Lucentia drew herself up proudly. "Heed this hippie. She at least knows—" The hippie smiled. "Who stood in the square, peddling homemade gin and crowing about the Illuminati's conspiracy to resurrect Kurt Cobain to defeat Steelheart." Her face darkened. "Enjoy these last moments, hippie, for—" Lucentia was once again rudely interrupted by that glittering abomination calling herself Doctor Funtimes. She took one look at the circlet, tilted her head, and snapped her fingers. "Needed more glitter. And birdies." She skipped off, chased by Lucentia, who ignored the tweeting noises coming from her hair. 4

I´ve been wondering, what kind of powers would an Epic named after the Oregon trail have. 1
Mailliw73 he/him Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I don't think most of you guys keep up with the Sanderson Elimination games here, aside from Joe and I. Alvron, one of our readers has set up the latest game in the world of Steelheart here. I'm just letting you know so you can join if you want. They're a lot of fun! I'm glad to have the backstory and personality completely fleshed out for Milton, my character. It'll make it really easy to RP. (Especially if he gets the role of Illusionist. )

Edgedancer he/him Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I'd join, but I don't have a ton of time this semester. Like in the old computer game. Talking about game and time, we brought it up but is there currently an actual interest to move action to Astoria or is that something for possibly later? I wonder if that´s also an option in the Super amazing wagon adventure.

I wonder if that´s also an option in the Super amazing wagon adventure. I don't know if we were planning on doing that now, or waiting until after the CorpseMaker war. Was Lucentia planning on going back to Astoria after that? If so, it might make more sense to start an Astoria thread when their Queen returns; but if we wanted to start one now, perhaps you could tell us what kind of court intrigue would be going on in her absence? (Also, if/when we start an Astoria thread, would The Financier, a resurrection Epic whose deaths cause him to see numbers as increasingly violent living entities, be allowed?) 1
