Aaron looks up. "I am fine now" he says, his voice becoming perkier. What just happened to me, I thought he was in Tartarus. he glances at the vial of Gorgon blood in his pocket, and goes cold. It was empty. No, no, no, who got it. He goes through the days event in his mind. Did a monster take it?

He heads towards Edgar, throwing his special mix of blooms around him once again. He glances at the rapidly mptying packet. "I dont have too much left." he says to Jenny, focusing on the healing, and what he can do for his friends.

Jenny smiled gratefully. Ed really needed this.

”Thank you!”

It was unfortunate they were running low on healing supplies. They might need to stop by a plant nursery or something for Aaron. She scooted away slightly to avoid accidentally taking up some of the healing magic. Her bruises were only an annoyance, so fixing them would be frivolous.

@Weaver of Lights

Edgar stopped shaking, but his eyes were filled with fear. He pointedly didn’t look at Jenny.

“Thank you,” he said in a shaky voice to Aaron.

"That's fine" Aaron says, throwing another hand of seeds in from another pouch. Aimed to make Edgar fall asleep, and to heal more.

@Lunamor
Edgar immediately falls asleep, finally leaning against Jenny.

 He dreamed.

Hades stood before him. “You think you’re worthy of my daughter? You think you, you insignificant, weak, useless boy are worthy of her love and devotion?” He laughed.

Edgar just stood there, stunned. “I…I…” He bowed his head. “No.”

Hades laughed again. “That’s right. You will end this nonsense, boy.”

”I…ok.”

Lying with his head on Jenny’s shoulder, a tear dropped down  his cheek and he started shaking uncontrollably.

“Ed?!”

Jenny immediately roughly shook Ed, trying to snap him out of it. Had something been wrong with the flowers Aaron had used? Maybe he was allergic. What did you do for an allergic reaction? It could be a seizure, too. She didn’t know what to do for that either. Were allergy seizures a thing? Jenny frantically looked at Aaron, her eyes wild and panicked.

Edgar blinked his eyes open, trying to banish the image of Hades from his mind. He and Jenny had the same pale skin.

”W…what?” he asked, wiping the tears from his chin.

Jenny hugged Ed tightly. He was talking, he was ok. She wasn’t going to lose him. She hated that he kept scaring her like this, then immediately felt guilty about that. It wasn’t his fault.

”You were shaking really badly.”

She didn’t break the hug, holding Ed like she was trying to keep him from blowing away in a windstorm.

He hugged her weakly back. Was this their last hug like this? Would he never feel safe like how she made him feel? Surely no one else would love him.

“I…I’m sorry.”

Sorry. Ed was always sorry. It hurt Jenny whenever he apologized for being in pain or struggling. None of this was in his control. She whispered to him.

”Please don’t be sorry.”

Jenny’s head snapped towards Roy. He was always looking for excuses to bully Ed. This one was clearly a stretch, so thankfully it didn’t seem to hurt Ed.

”Leave him alone.”

“How…how can I not be?” Another tear dripped down his cheek. He seemed to get smaller, trying to up as little room as possible.

Jenny glared at Roy for a moment more, then turned back to Ed.

“There isn’t anything to be sorry for. None of this is your fault.”

Ed was crying. She was making him cry. He felt bad for inconveniencing her. She hadn’t done a good enough job of telling him otherwise. Her voice quieted and shook slightly.

”Please listen to me. I love you. I help you. You help me. That’s what people do when they care about each other.”

“This is all my fault. All of it.” He looked into her eyes. “I love you too Jenny. More than anything. More than I love myself or how I feel. Which is why…” he took a deep, shaky breath. “Which is why…what we have…it has to end.”

“What? Why? That… that doesn’t make sense…”

Ed was breaking up with her. Jenny didn’t understand why. They both loved each other, made each other happy. Was Ed lying about still loving her just to spare her feelings? Ed didn’t lie. But it didn’t make sense if he wasn’t lying. She’d done something wrong. What had she done wrong?

She was Jenny. That was what was wrong.

“I…I wish we could stay together. But…it’s me. And I can never be enough. I can never be strong enough, good enough, never the one you deserve.” The words and tears were flowing faster now. “You deserve someone who doesn’t nearly die in every fight, someone who can take care of themselves and protect you. You deserve someone who isn’t…well, me. I’m sorry.”

He looked down, burying his face in his arms and curling up, ignoring, no, relishing the pain it caused. Because he deserved it.

“But I don’t want anyone else! I want you. I need you.”

Jenny had never been able to truly convince Ed that he wasn’t a burden. So she probably couldn’t do it now. He was going to leave her, and there was nothing she could do to stop it. Tears started streaming down her face. The crack forming in her heart was echoed in her voice.

”Please don’t abandon me.”

“It’s…it’s for the best. I’m sorry. I wish it didn’t have to be this way. But it is.”

He didn’t look up at her. Instead, he twisted his body, blood soaking his bandages. It felt…not good, but it made him feel better. Because he felt a fraction of the pain he deserved.

“Please don’t hurt yourself.”

This was her fault. Jenny was hurting Ed. She had to stop him. There was only one way she knew how. She stood up, quickly backing away.

”I’ll… I’ll leave. Just please don’t do that.”

She couldn’t run. She was on a quest. The other questmates were relying on her, the world was relying on her. Jenny couldn’t flee. So she instead scrambled over to a place as far as she could get from Ed while still staying in the general area. She sat down facing away from him, knees pulled up against her chest and tears flowing freely.

She…she wanted him to stop. He could do that. He could do that. One last thing for her. And now…she was gone. Forever. It was…it was for the best. For her at least. He moved to be in less pain.

He looked up at the window. It was already cracked, and he was so close to it.

Aaron saw Edgar glance towards the window. "Oh no you dont" he grumbles, spilling all of his seeds, sending them sprouting to the window, latching onto what was possible to stop anyone, jumping out.

I could break through those. Get rid of a burden for everyone.

But I’m not strong enough. I’m never strong enough.

Tears dripped down his cheeks in an endless flood.

Out of the corner of her eye, Jenny saw plants of some sort sprouting. She tried to keep facing away, but couldn’t. It was so hard to stay away. She risked a glance over her shoulder and saw that Aaron was covering the crack in the window. Ed was looking at that and crying. Had he… oh no. Was staying away not enough? Was she hurting him by leaving? She’d hurt him by staying, too. No matter what she did, she’d hurt him. But she couldn’t just watch him hurt.

She walked back over to Ed and sat down. She was barely in arms reach and didn’t look at him directly. This way, she could grab him if he tried to do anything.

Watching his plants finish their job, he notices that Ed is crying. He feels a pang of guilt, At least he is safe. He glances at the pair again before shaking his head. Slipping to one of the corners of the room, bringing out his leather like journal.
