Edgar sagged against Jenny, putting more of his weight on her. He felt bad, but it was the only way he could stand. He was weak. She deserved someone stronger than him.

Jenny had no idea what to do. She’d already given Ed ambrosia, and his wound didn’t seem life-threatening enough to warrant gorgon blood. She tried to think about how he’d helped her before.

”Do you have some bandages still?”

He was still actively bleeding, which they needed to stop.

“A…couple. In my bag.” His head was spinning, it was getting hard to think.

Elsie, obviously concerned, handed him a box of apple juice.

Jenny grabbed the bandages from Ed’s bag and quickly started to wrap one around his leg. She tried her best to be gentle, but that was difficult when she was rushing like this. He was bleeding more than she had assumed. She hadn’t paid his injury enough attention.

He winced as she worked, trying not to show how much it hurt. He had been able ignore it in the heat of the moment but now the pain crashed down on him. His vision started to grow black from the pain.

Ed looked funny. Jenny assumed that meant something was wrong, since he had just lost a lot of blood and was probably in pain. She eased him into a sitting position in case he passed out.

”Ed? You ok?”

She tied off his bandage, inspecting her handiwork. It wasn’t particularly neat, but it would do. It had at least stopped the bleeding. Jenny considered wrapping a second bandage around the first, but eventually opted against it. They had a limited supply and it might hurt Ed too much to be worth it.

“That…might be a stretch.” Sitting down helped his head a little, his vision began returning to normal. “Thanks for helping me, sorry I got hurt again.” He winced at the pain in his leg again.

“It’s ok. It’s not your fault.”

Ed must really be hurting. That hurt Jenny, too. Seeing him in pain and not being able to help was awful. They didn’t have time to rest, however. They needed to flee the scene of the fight as soon as possible.

”We need to go rejoin the others. Do you think you can stand, or would you like me to carry you instead?”

“I can walk, I think. Or hobble.” He gave her Weak smile. Hopefully that would help her feel better. “Can you help me stand?”

“Of course.”

He was smiling. Did that mean he wasn’t hurting too badly? Jenny hoped so. She attempted to carefully help Ed up, trying to support as much of his weight as she could. A leg injury made movement very difficult. This was an especially inconvenient time for movement to be very difficult.

His vision started to go black again as he stood and he swayed heavily despite Jenny’s help. He didn’t quite black out though.

“Are you sure you can walk?”

Ed seemed like he could barely stand. Jenny was worried he would collapse as soon as he tried to take a step. She was also worried that he wouldn’t acknowledge his wooziness. He hated the idea of being a burden. Hopefully he realized that passing out completely would just make things more difficult for everyone.

“Maybe?” he grunted through a new wave of pain. “I…” she didn’t want him to lie to her. His face fell. “Probably not.”

 He was weak.

“Are you ok with me carrying you?”

Jenny wanted to make sure Ed would be fine with her carrying him. It could embarrass him. He might prefer a different option of some sort, although she couldn’t think of any alternatives. He was smarter than she was, though. He could probably figure something out.

“…yeah.” This would be embarrassing, but not as bad as if he were to faint trying to walk.

Jenny nodded and carefully picked Ed up, trying to avoid jostling him. She started off towards the elevator, making sure that Terrance and Elsie were following. She whispered to Ed as they walked.

”Thanks for telling me.”

I’m assuming those that didn’t mention coming down are still hanging out at the top of the arch.

He sighed softly. He was always weak, always needing her help. “You’re welcome.”

At least it was her, not someone else. She was a good girlfriend.

Elsie just followed, uncharacteristically silent.

Jenny reached the elevator and awkwardly pressed the button with her elbow to avoid having to set Ed down. She waited impatiently, shifting from one foot to the other. She was learning that she didn’t like anything about elevators- even waiting for them was excruciating.

"So..." Elsie said. "Are we going to be able to get on another train? You guys said there's that stuff that prevents people who aren't like us from seeing what's actually happening, but does that mean they wouldn't see that we had anything to do with the chaos?"

“We’ve already gotten in trouble with the mortal side of the world for stuff. We killed a bunch of hellhounds and some furies, but to regular people they looked like puppies and old ladies. We’ll probably get in trouble for this too.”

Jenny sighed. Why did this confrontation have to happen in front of so many people? This was why she didn’t like cities.

”We need to leave here as soon as possible once we regroup again. I don’t know if getting on a train again will be an option.”

"Oh. That's... Not good. People probably got photos, then."

“Almost definitely. It happened before.”

Jenny pulled out the newspaper chronicling their apparent slaughter of puppies and showed it to Elsie. It had a picture of her on the front, although it didn’t show her face. It was unlikely that the pictures probably taken of their newest fight had the same saving grace.

Oh my gosh. That's actually amazing.

"Dang. You're all wanted criminals, huh?" She joked.
