Child of Decay, can you hear me?

Yes, Dilsha thought, but of course Sono couldn’t hear her.

Polton hit her over the head with his staff.

Strangely enough, it went through her.

Alex turned and saw the man from before, raising his staff and hitting…nothing. Or it appeared to be nothing. Whatever, that man had taken Dil. Alex rushed him, slamming into him and wrestling the staff out of his grasp.

If she physically exists, he hit her. Unless that invisibility thing makes her completely intangible?

He did not succeed. The man disappeared himself before the Alex hit him.

Yup, she’s completely intangible right now. Can’t physically affect (or be affected by) anything.

Alex pounded his fists on the ground. He had been so close, now it would take even longer to find Dil.

Dilsha looked at him with something akin to…pity? No, no, she didn’t feel bad for this peasant. She didn’t feel bad for him. He was nothing to her. Right?

…hehe my school did a scene from Othello earlier this year, the part where he kills his wife, and the guy playing Othello had a whole big moment where he was punching the ground and screaming and it was epic and now anytime anyone punches the ground I think of that :P

Alex went back to the inn, glumly sending food. Hoping that someone would be able to help him.

"Oh!" Will waved him over. "Your the one who went after the Barkeeper right?"

Dilsha followed him.

She groaned softly, though of course they couldn’t hear her.

You can come out now.

“No, I can’t,” Dilsha says, enjoying being able to say what she wants without being heard.

I can still hear you, child of Decay. I can tell where you are.

Noooo

I’ll be chill with everything elseeeee

But no one can see, hear, smell, or otherwise sense her.

It’s as if she’s popped out of existence.

I will die on this hill.

If she can send the messages, and the child of Decay can see them, then Sono knows that Dilsha is alive, and probably where she is.

We'll just say she knows Dilsha is alive. It's a logical conclusion to draw, and others probably won't believe Sono

You are alive. I can tell. Otherwise you wouldn't be receiving this

Sono was cleverer than Dilsha had given her credit for. She’d have to be careful with that one.

Anyways, I'm not going to tell Alex, or anyone for that matter that you are not dead. It's not a lie, it's just... A shaded truth. Maybe it will give you some encouragement to think before you act.

Do you know where Larceny is? Sono wrote to Alex.

Dilsha almost gasped, but her instincts forced it down. Then, remembering no one could tell, she did gasp. The nerve. This one wouldn’t survive a day back home.

Perhaps simply payback for what you did to me. Prophetic, isn't it? Sono sent to her.

Dilsha stopped listening then. Peasants never knew anything, and the ones who thought they did were the worst fools of all.

Sono then headed over the library, in order to find a variety of different things.

You can now assume that Dilsha is not alive. I have a sort of a confirmation, although it could be considered dubious.

Alex stepped back into the kitchen, then out of the back door. He found a secluded spot and began to weep.

Dilsha followed, amazed. That was...that was raw human emotion at its finest. A sign of low blood, she'd always been told. But watching him, it suddenly felt like more than that. Like something...noble. Beautiful, even in its ugliness.

Maybe, she decided, I'll stay just a little longer.
