Awakened Nanomedicine/Nanotech

Nanomedicine is bassicly regular technology, used in the medicinal fields, but small, like very very small.

Soooo, really small objects/robots. Now awakening has some good potential in this field, give it some good commands and sure it will search for cancer cells and eliminate them! All you need is good visualisation of what needs to happen. Awakening could do great things in this field, eliminating cancer, treating certain sicknesses etc. 

Awakening could also be used to create or manage certain things within the body, basically micromanaging your body’s functions and abilities. ‘Oh your stomach isn’t a good environment for this specific type of bacteria that breaks down your food? We’ll replace that for you!’

The only large downside I can think of right now is that it will cost a lot of breath, and breaths simply aren’t that easy to gather. What do you guys think?

We saw in Tress there are Awakened circuits and AI, we saw it also in SotD - Awakened computers are clearly a big thing and can enhance the computer and help it work via Connection, Identity or even Fortune. Yes, whatever you can program, you can Awaken it to work even better - a cancer seeking nanobots can be made. But each bot would have to be Awakened independently and that would cost a fortune of Breaths - that isn't very economical. 

Truthfully, cancer might not even be a thing in Cosmere, because everyone's immune system is boosted by their investiture. That's the reason there are no disease outbreaks in Cosmere, no serious plagues and stuff like that. Developing a cancer is a long process, it might be long enough for your boosted immune system to deal with it before it fully develops. But that's off topic a bit.

I think @alder24 hit this one on the head. The likelihood of cancers and these kinds of diseases in the Cosmere are really low to begin with. Not to mention that by the time Nanomedicine is a thing there is real potential that invested healing is already available. 

That said, I think it all sounds like it should work. I would much rather use the breaths to make some legit Doc Ock arms or an Iron-Spider suit... just me personally. 

I would love to see how precise visualizations will become as the understanding of physics and microbiology becomes though. The smaller you can see and more you can understand... plus the more your language evolves to have words for those things... the more awakening is going to excel and be awesome. Once you get to AI levels of tech you would be investing things capable of shifting their will. How dangerous will it be if AI starts being able to start using breaths or influencing the visualization and verbalizations of those capable of using breaths? I would love to say that people in the cosmere will be immune to these sorts of abuses but looking at the impact some of the tic tok challenges have made on mankind in our world I can totally see people doing really dumb things with breaths.

So if nanomedicine is possible but not super practical what about the opposite? Make some tiny awakened robots and put them in someone’s drink with the command to mess with their insides and you could have a convoluted way to poison someone

Robots? Why not Awakened parasites? Just 1 Breath each.
