Nihilum he/him Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Though I've been reading Sanderson's work for about a year and following the website, I didn't actually register for the forums until today. I was introduced to Sanderson by my older brother, when he commented on Sanderson finishing out the WoT series. He recommended that I read Elantris first, but I bought the Mistborn Trilogy for my Nook instead. From the Prologue until the final sentence in Hero of Ages, I was enthralled. I eventually picked up Elantris, Infinity Blade and most recently The Way of Kings, and Alloy of Law. Though even hardcore fans found the first half of TWoK to be too slow, I found it addicting. I continually have trouble with putting any of his books down and doing what needs to be done around the house.
Joe ST he/him Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Hey there Nihilum, great to have you here. I think most of us find it hard to put him down.
Zas678 he/him Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Hoorah for lurkers! We're glad to have you here and to hear your ideas.
dhalagirl she/her Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) I think most of us find it hard to put him down. Which is impressive given the fact that we're pasty nerd-folk that have never seen the inside of a gym. Edited January 29, 2012 by dhalagirl 3
Songstress she/her Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Which is impressive given the fact that we're pasty nerd-folk that have never seen the inside of a gym. Hey, hey now... I have seen the inside of a gym. I read most of Alloy of Law and WoK on my Kindle while on the treadmill. In fact, I have a horrible time making it to L.A. Fitness when I'm not currently engrossed in reading a new Brandon Sanderson novel, because I buy them all on Kindle and refuse to let myself read e-books at home when I have a large stack of paperbacks waiting to be read. OK, that's not much of a defense against being a pasty nerd.
CrazyRioter she/her Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I've seen the inside of a gym, not recently but I have in the past. I went every day for a while.
Ironeyes Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) I'm a cross country runner and a swimmer. I am 20 percent underweight. I have a tan. But I never said I'm not a nerd. Nerds can be physically fit. And tan. Afterthought: A warm welcome to you, Nihilum. You should post your name in the Pronunciation Guide. I can't pronounce it. Edited February 2, 2012 by Ironeyes
ProfessorMLyon he/him Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Which is impressive given the fact that we're pasty nerd-folk that have never seen the inside of a gym. Pasty nerd-folk reporting for duty! Which is sad because I used to be quite tan once upon a time. Then I got old and into reading and got drained of my color. Bummer. Welcome, by the way Nihilum, from one former luker to another.
Scattered she/her Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Welcome, Nihilum! I, too, am a former lurker, so glad to have you in the ranks. I have the same problem with not being able to put the books down. And I don't mean to go off-topic, but I saw your username, ProfessorMLyon, and just had to comment. I love those books!
