Well, I guess he didn't need to leave yet...

Veyendis returned after several minutes with a lil nightengale on his shoulder. He walked up to Insa, beaming. “Hey! Can we try something? It might help.”

“Like… I don’t know. Something with your powers?”

"Oh. Yeah. In the fight with Kaos, both Bonum and Malum were destroyed. That means everything and everyone from my home world are gone... anyway. It seems like I sort of inherited at least some of that power. But I'm not a mistborn anymore, and my hemalurgic spike is gone. It seems like the new powers pushed the old ones out. That's what the golden light was, earlier."

“I mean I’m in a bit of pain.” She held up the empty plate a little. “I ate some food so hopefully it will help.”

“We can try either or both of them.”

“Oh.” Maybe that would explain the connection. “I’m sorry.”

He knelt next to her and the nightingale hopped onto her shoulder, feathers brushing her cheek. The pain eased a little bit.

“Feel anything?” He asked.

Lerac looked mildly curious. "Why the bird?"

He shrugged. "It's alright. I'm still learning how it all works. Sometimes I can make connections with people, or I can-" He stopped, frowning. "Is there a magical connection between us right now? I thought I removed that..."

“We’re bonded,” Veyendis said. “Together, we have healing abilities, plus some enhancements and random stuff like that.”

Haly shrugged. “I don’t mind it.”

"Ah. Well, I'm fairly sure I can help her. But if you'd like to try first, be my guest. It could make things a bit easier for me, if nothing else."

"But I thought..." He sighed, apparently frustrated. "I thought I had this figured out. At least partially. Anyway, it could mean that you unintentionally share thoughts and feelings with me. Do you want that?"

Veyendis smiled. “I hope you don’t mind,” he told Insa, then rested a head on her forehead.

same to you

I tend to do a lot of thoughts so feel free to pick and choose what he feels from what I give you

She smiled back.

The clinic was so quiet. Mitis' ship had never been quiet. There was always either sounds of the crew or the whir of the device that kept them going at night.

It felt almost... eerie.

She grew drowsy. It felt rude to fall asleep while he was here, but she wasn't sure she could help it.

Why was she so upset? She'd spent years trying to get back here, picturing his face, wishing she could hug him.

What was wrong with her now that she'd succeeded?

Tentatively, uncertainly, he took her hand in his.

That woke her up. She felt herself blush, and her heart did a weird flippy thumpy thing.

Gild it, she'd missed him like crazy.

She carefully leaned her head on his shoulder.

The moment the healing stuff started the ache started to disappear. Within moments Insa felt a buzzing of energy building up.

The person would be able to feel the build up of energy as well. If they stop because of it the ache will come back but less. If they don’t stop because of it then the ache will also come back but be less and the person will get like a large-ish static shock.

Veyendis grinned. He didn’t stop— and then he and the bird jumped back.

“Ow,” he said, looking dazed. “You… you okay, Insa?”

His heart also gave a leap, though it soon settled down to a comfortable rhythm as he leaned in too, feeling a wave of relief and contentedness.
