Insa nodded. “It helped a little.”

“Good. Do you want me to try again?” Veyendis asked.

His heart also gave a leap, though it soon settled down to a comfortable rhythm as he leaned in too, feeling a wave of relief and contentedness.

And then Haly fell asleep.

Lerac approached her. "Well, I can try now."

So his healing would probably be enough to heal her completely, but he would end up taking on some of what the storm god put on her. So up to you what that would be like for both of them.

TAAron wasn't so tired, but he was happy to just stay there with her.

He'd probably get a small scar like hers and it would hurt for a little while. But the pain would go away. Because Saar wouldn't care that much about him but would want some form of retaliation.

"Sure."

“Hardly,” Veyendis dismissed. “I’m good for another round.”

The nightingale twittered reproach at him, since he could hardly stay on his feet.

“…I guess I’ll just watch.”

Lerac reached out, but paused for a moment, tilting his head like he was hearing something odd.

She smiled. “We should go get some—“

A huge spider crashed through the ceiling. Haly froze.

Veyendis frowned. “What’s wrong?”

Well, that's something.

TAAron shot up to his feet, immediately getting surrounded in a golden glow.

"Nothing," Lerac lied. He knew the feeling of resistance from Death, a warning not to proceed. But Death wouldn't stop him, and whatever it was, he could handle it. He touched Insa's forehead, and she immediately felt a rush of healing warmth that erased the pain and the scar.

Her heart thumped impossibly fast. If only she could run through the wall or something, and take TAAron with her—

What do I do?

”Nice,” Veyendis said.

"Are you su-" Insa fell silent as the warmth spread.
"Oh." She relaxed a little. "That feels nice."

The light around TAAron shifted suddenly to a bright violet. Haly recognized it as the color associated with TAAron's world's now-dead evil god, Malum.

Without thinking or understanding what he did, TAAron inflicted pain on the spider, searing and unadulterated.

Where was Insa's scar?

The spider buckled.

Haly paled. “TAAron, I-! Stop! He’ll leave us alone.”

Veyendis frowned and stepped forward, then did his best to heal Lerac.

TAAron didn't seem to need to be told, as the light quickly dissipated into the air, and he stumbled backward in a daze.

---

Veyendis had no luck. As soon as he touched Lerac, he felt a rush of warmth fill him, as happened to anyone who touched him. Attempting to heal him felt like trying to stop a crashing wave by throwing a bucket of water at it; Lerac's own healing energy easily reversed and outweighed Veyendis' attempt.

5 minutes ago, Spark of Hope said:

Panicking, she felt his wrist for a pulse.

She felt one, as well as the warmth that came from touching him directly. Both she and Veyendis lost any traces of pain or soreness that they had had.

She felt an instant sense of relief, but kept her thumb there. Avatar of Death or not, she wanted to be aware if the pulse got slower or weaker.

The spider skittered away.

Haly caught his arm to support him. “What… what was that?”

TAAron leaned against her tiredly. "Leftover energy from them... I have to use Malum's if I do something violent."
