A man with twin copper scimitars walks into the clinic's foyer.
"Hello? Anyone here?" He rings the bell at the front desk.

"I swear to Lesh if it this is another haunted clinic."

Rue hissed. "Coward," she said, eyes on Lerac.

Tal, being the doorman, is at the front desk. "This clinic isn't haunted."

When she looked, the figure standing there was no longer Lerac. An older man, with angular features and eyes that glowed with twin flames.

The color was unable to touch him. When it tried, it felt a cold agony.

Just now, Edema Rue said:

"Who are you?"

"Death." His voice sounded old and tired.

"Oh? And why are you here? You have what you want." Rue struggled to keep the bitterness out of her voice.

Rue looked him in the eye. "I'm going to bring him back."

"How? Why?"

Rue shrugged. "I don't know how. And why...because he's a good person. kind person. There's probably no one else in this clinic less deserving of death."

"It isn't possible, you know."

Rue gave him a flat look. "I've lived a long time, and seen many things that aren't possible. And if it isn't..." she felt a pang of terror. "I'll try anyway."

Death seemed to examine her for a long while.

"I believe you," he finally said. "You know, I never much cared for gods. People, despite their short lives, tend to be far more interesting, everything they do far more meaningful. I've grown rather fond of them in my time, perhaps because they all, eventually, become my subjects."

"I'm saying I would rather see a few mortals happy than hold on to the souls of two gods for all eternity. However, this is not an inclination that I can act upon myself."

Rue raised an eyebrow. "And if I were to do it? Would you, perhaps, be inclined to release the soul of a single mortal?"
