Rue tried again, letting out a pang regret for the broken oath rod.

Pic's fingers instantly snapped to the staff, letting the Oath Rod drop. The magic sensed the importance of this object through Rue and caught it, sending it to the center of Nameless, Pic, and Rue.

Haunting, nostalgic chords began to ring, echoing regret of the things that had happened, but hinted at a hidden resolve that all of these singers shared.

Pic's eyes began to glow, as it was the first time he had directly interacted with such a powerful object. The Oath Rod began to spin.

Pic's magic is very reactionary, so the more emotions and wants the better!

WAIT IM GONNA DO SOMETHING COOL

In the midst of the noise and emotion, Pic felt something from an unexpected source. It was the Oath Rod, but not the weaves. It was something more deep, and incomprehensibly vast. It fed him some emotion, like a single note humming alone, different from the rest. It was pain, still, but far more intense. It was of permanent loss, of infinite grief. Pic could also tell, somehow, that it wasn't from now. It was from some other time. The past, maybe? Or the future...

your magic is interacting!!! (Maybe? Of course that's up to you)

This emotion hit Pic like a dozen blades, and he gasped in response. Tears began to leak out of his increasingly bright eyes. He sang the singular note with a resounding baritone, pure in tone and full of feeling, providing the most solid anchor Rue's melody could have. As he did this, the Oath Rod began to glow and vibrate.

Well, this magic is odd. Other magic does not interact with it, but anything with a living soul can on some level. That's why anyone can use this modified Oath Rod. So his magic isn't touching it, but he is.

And I got a cool idea for a trait of this magic, which is that it's extratemporal. It technically exists independent of time, and therefore can occasionally do some strange things...

Due to this being music, my magic is nearly exclusivley temporal.... this is gonna have some interesting interactions

Most magic is, and not really, because again his magic is not interacting with TAAron's. His soul did, and he received the emotion. That's the extent of it, pretty much.

Rue let her melody flow around it, weaving it carefully around his note.

"Who did?" He wiped away the tears, though they kept flowing.

Rue flushed, unsure how to respond. "Nevermind. Look, we're going to find a way to fix this."

My bad, thanks!

The magic sensed Rue's carefulness and mindfulness and dove into the oath rod, pulling out the weaves that made it similar to how one pulls a good thread out of many frayed ones. Lines of light, distinct from Pic's staff, began to form just next to the Rod. Pic's staves duplicated themselves, with one set going over to surround the weaves, and tho other saying by pic to keep the music going. Before long, all of the weaves were hovering outside the Rod, given temporary stability by the staves

Pic is still singing based on what he feels, regardless of whether or not TAAron's magic interacts directly. The magic is responding to everyone's emotions and wants, not the Rod itself.

"Please don't but yourself in danger for me."

"Someone has to, if you're going to get yourself into these kinds of things." Rue hesitated. "I...I don't know how death works, but he said something about your soul dissolving...keep yourself together, okay? We aren't going to leave you."

Rue's eyes widened in shock. That was...unreal.

"It's not worth it, Rue. People aren't meant to return from death. You'll end up dead yourself, or worse." TAAron looked her in the eyes. "I'm sorry."

Luna looked up from her book. Pic, Nameless, and Rue were doing something to it? She suddenly felt inclined to join the circle. She didn't know why, but suddenly she was in the circle. Without her consent, all of her emotions flowed into the Rod. Confusion, sadness, loss, wanting to know. No, needing to know. She was unsure what was happening.

Flaming man… Rue shook her head. “Don’t. Don’t you dare. I’ll…see you soon.”

The weaves were propelled by Lunas emotion and driven towards Rues Spirit. The weaves helpfully arranged themselves into what they had been before the Oath Rod had changed. However, there was nothing to channel them, to give them purpose.

Alright what does Rue really want with the Oath Rod. Why does she need it fixed?

Some text on the wall wrote, "I can try and follow, to the best of my ability, but still be here. Do you want me to do that?"

Um...she wants it fixed because it's a really important artifact and has been for centuries? Does that work?

Lerac stepped up and promptly thrust the dagger into TAAron's back. He gasped softly, then disintegrated into wisps of white light.
