Aetherbound didn't make the wish, his aethers did. The transformation could only affect his left hand, which is covered by a glove. It also can disguise the aethers in his mind, presumably as normal things you would find while looking in a mind.

Now that's taken care of, I should be nearly impossible to notice. Kind of like a gray man, if you want to compare me with something from this world. - Aetherbound(writing on the ground)
