"Interesting," Haldor mused. "Would you mind if our team walked around a little to see everything for ourselves?" He gestured at everybody behind him.

“Pardon me, sir, but we have been training our whole lives for things like this. I highly doubt your ‘team’ could do anything about this. And how did you get to lead a private police force, anyway? What with your eyes and all.”

Haldor leaned in close. "This is no police force, and I am far from the leader. Most of the team are Knights Radiant, so I would suggest you let us past.

The man sighs, and mutters something about “storming Radiants.” But he lets the group pass.

“Let’s split up,” Nandok says. “All of you look around for any clues you might find.”

“Soldier,” said the officer. “Not very. No one reports seeing anything outside of the ordinary. It seems she just disappeared. Vanished into thin air.”

“Wait for Haldor to finish his investigation,” Nandok said. “We’ll decide our next move based on that.”

“Sound good.”

We’re investigating someone’s disappearance.

Haldor walked over to the group. “I’ll need your help to investigate and look for for clues. You Radiants will probably see something I’ll miss.”

“Not necessarily. Even non-rad—wait a minute? Where’d Lisyina go?”

Everyone looks around, but the Purelaker is nowhere to be found. All that there is is a reflective black path with two sets of footprints sunken into it, which leads into an alleyway.

“Well,” Nandok says. “Should we follow them? Or stop and get supplies first?”

Haldor hesitated. “Standard military protocol would be to report back to a commanding officer and receive supplies before sending out a search party, but this  isn’t the military, so I say we follow them.”

Raven! Welcome back. Could you please fill out a character sheet? I’ll incorporate your arrival into the story.

Merinn pulled a machete out of his tunic. "I- It's not really a weapon but . . . it's sharp."

He had worried carrying weapons would make him more suspicious .

“Oh, you didn’t realize? I’m a radiant too, as are a few others of us.” Nandok summons a Sharddagger to prove his point.

Merinn's nervousness returned. "You're ra- radiants?!"

"Don't worry," Alili whispered, "They'll help you learn to use your powers!"

"Ali'i, these are the people who are most likely to kill me if they find out I'm . . ." he whispered back.

"Tha- That's . . . very . . . very . . . um . . . uh interesting, yes very interesting, I've never . . . never met one before, there aren't any where I come from . . ." Merinn stammered, trying to sound calm.

“No, there most certainly are not. Shall we go in? Weapons at the ready.”

Merinn decided to stay near the back of the group. He was a capable fighter, but not fantastic. Plus he worried that moving around to much in a fight might reveal his signer features.

“Good. Haldor, you’re the soldier, do you mind leading us into this alley of darkness?”

"Let's go," Nandok says, walking into the alley.
