Nandok sat up. “Great!” they said. “To the market we go, then.”

“Onward,” Lasina agrees, creating an illusion of sparks going out the door.

I’m probably going to stretch lightweaving way too far throughout this thing…you can always veto it.

Just don’t go too over the top and it should be fine.

"Great! Where are we going?" Haldor followed along.

“To the Breakaway, outside of the Ten Rings. That’s where she was last seen.”

"Who is 'she'?"

“You didn’t hear the news? A woman—Alida, a potter of the 9th dahn—disappeared late last night. I suspect there is some sort of threat hidden in this city that seeks to kidnap people and use them for their own purposes, based on things my spies said. I search for this being now, hoping to find and stop them before it is too late.”

"Oh. I don't trust the news," Haldor said grimly. "You can never know what is propaganda and what isn't."

"If you believe all news though gan, you'll get propaganda from both sides so it won't matter, eh?"

“We must give her justice.”

Lasina looked at him flatly. "We don't know that she's dead."

Merinn was silent. He started to realize just how in over his head he was.

"M- maybe she went on a vacation?"

That may be but she is missing and there is justice in that.

“Almost definitely not. I’m sorry…what was your name again? And it’s not guaranteed that she’s dead, but…I fear for her life.”

Hi! Do you mind filling out a character sheet first? There should be a link in the OP. Thanks!

Lasina looked around. “Are we waiting for anyone else?”

“I don’t think so.”

By this point, everyone had reached the Breakaway. A group of law enforcement officers stood, trying to find Alida. Nandok surveyed the area. “She should be around here somewhere…. The thing is, I don’t usually get along well with law enforcement. Had a bad experience in my youth. Would anyone mind talking to them for me?”

“I can do it,” Haldor volunteered. He walked up to the nearest law enforcement officer.

“Officer! My name is Haldor, darkeyed soldier of the fifth dahn in Brightlord Kholin’s army. What is the status on this investigation?”

"Oh . . . um . . . Merinn."

What if his name didn't sound Scadrain? Would this reveal him?"

“Soldier,” said the officer. “Not very. No one reports seeing anything outside of the ordinary. It seems she just disappeared. Vanished into thin air.”

“Wait for Haldor to finish his investigation,” Nandok said. “We’ll decide our next move based on that.”

"Interesting," Haldor mused. "Would you mind if our team walked around a little to see everything for ourselves?" He gestured at everybody behind him.
