This is just a thought I had, but considering Kaladin and Szeth are paired up for book 5 and both them and Ishar are in Shinovar, I feel like it would be a really fight scene. Cuz if anyone is going to beat a herald, I think this might be the pair to do it

I think they will try a couple times, really get their butts kicked because Ishar does NOT play fair (and they dont want to feed him to Nightblood).

Meanwhile, Szeth is working through his Cruisade on the leadership of Shinovar, and when he completes it and gets that Spiritual Ideal boost, Ishar will get a chance to fix the magic part of his madness, (and/or join Kaladin's therapy group), becoming an occasionally useful mad-mad for the Radiants (Walter Bishop style).

I don't think so. If there is, they will be massacred. Ishar with Bondsmith unbound powers is just on another level. And while Nightblood is a terrifying weapon, Bondsmith unbound is far more dangerous.

Spoiler

Scott Beckman (paraphrased)

Which is scarier... Which is more dangerous: a sword that wants to destroy evil, or a Bondsmith with no bounds?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

A Bondsmith with no bounds.

Scott Beckman (paraphrased)

Can an unbound Bondsmith take that sword's... ability for himself?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

Not exactly, but something similar. Probably not what you're thinking, but he could essentially take what that sword is, yes.

Miscellaneous 2022 (Sept. 17, 2022)

Their main objective is to swear an oath in Ishar's presence and talk to sane him, then find a way to bring that sane Ishar for longer so he could help Dalinar - all of that in less than 10 days. I think Kaladin's skill as a therapist will come in handy, even though Ishar's madness is magical. I'm guessing Szeth will swear his Crusade Ideal when they find Ishar, not earlier, as right now he is ready to swear it - 10 days for Kaladin to reach the last Ideal isn't enough.

This would be great, but yeah, they are not trying to kill Ishtar. He is too valuable a tool.
