Marabout Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I was just thinking how oddly well the WoT world could be incorporated into the Cosmere. WoT world would be a 2-shard world with The Creator and The Dark One balancing each other out similar to a certain other Cosmere world. The Creator would provide Investiture in the form of Saidan and Saidar while the Dark One would provide the True Source (and corrupting Saidan). So the magic system is Cosmere-compatible too. The Dragon Reborn would function similarly to other returned Invested people and this would also apply to a lesser extent to the Heroes of the Horn. The Ogier would be World-hoppers when they use the Book of Translation. It just all fits so strangely. Adopt the WoT world into the Cosmere! 1
The Bookwyrm he/him Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 (edited) While such connections are cool to notice, I think Sanderson has made it very clear that The Wheel of Time is not his work and not his universe. He respects it far too much to try to pull it away from Robert Jordan. It's Robert Jordan's story in Robert Jordan's universe, and Sanderson isn't going to infringe on that. Also there aren't enough Shards left. Still, it is fun to find little similarities like that... Edited July 10, 2023 by The Bookwyrm 2

Except for the whole "there is no version of Earth in the Cosmere" and WoT being "this is Earth, in a different Age." WoBs: Spoiler Quote Questioner I really wish the Rithmatist books was on a Shardworld where... Brandon Sanderson It started as one... I just decided I didn't want to canonize Earth into the cosmere, it was too much. Spoiler Questioner What came first, Pattern or Chalklings? Brandon Sanderson Pattern was before Chalklings, good question. For some part of its existence, The Rithmatist was in the cosmere, until I finally decided I just don't want Earth in the cosmere at all, even a bizarre sort of version of Earth.
