And then Variance disappeared from the ship, and appeared behind the officer for real. "How about you put the ship back online?"

Might need a description of where he is and such now.

She has access to the ship’s air pressure readings (along with everyone’s vitals)

Ayia would've cut the system for tracking vitals. She also cut any diagnostic tracers in general, but presumably the ship had backups that she was unaware of.

“The orders of the Kkhlei. What else?”

Variance made his form shadowy, and his eyes glowed red. When he spoke, his voice was soft but clear in the officer's head. "We can do this the easy way, or the hard way."

She’s a Beorin officer, but thinks we came from this universe, so goes with the familiar authority figure.

"Lovely. Now bring the ship's functions back online, and we will be on our way."

“Please don’t hurt me.”

"This is a Beorin fleet. What's your fleet title?"

The officer didn’t respond.

"I won't, if you let us go."

The officer decided she’d rather be demoted for letting the ship through than killed, pressing a button on the control panel and turning on the ship’s engines and air recycling systems.

"Good. I will wait here to make sure nothing... untoward happens." He stood uncomfortably near the officer now, being as menacing as he could.

I kinda wrote myself into a corner with the officer’s character

This means they’ll probably get caught on the other side of the portal though so

That's fine, I guess. Do you have any plans for how they'll deal with the two spirit types aboard?

Also, I guess at this point we can just skip to getting to the portal.

Okay just for good measure

The air inside the big Beoerin ship suddenly* disappeared. Gave them something to worry about, strohger guessed. "Okay. Seems like you have other problems. Bye!"
