Allera nodded.

“I think I have something that could help us leave the universe. There’s an old legend that says stardragons— like that one we saw earlier— have access to a ‘separate dimension’. Maybe one of them could get us out of the universe? It could be risky. They’re extremely powerful.”

"Sure, we could give it a shot. But how would we find one? Or get it to take us there?"

Aw, I hope you can RP at least sometimes

“Well, Ayia and I might have an answer to the first part of that…” Allera told them about the stardragon they’d seen in the storm. “I think it might still be around.”

Totally. Just not all the time.

"Do we even know that we can go with it? And does Ayia even want to go?"

"Pretty much everything is a 'pretty big risk' anyways."

"How about we just try finding a place in this universe for a little while, and if attacks or anything get too much, we can try the stardragon?"

“We might not get another chance to meet a stardragon on our own terms. They’re not evil, but they are powerful; it’s important to be careful when approaching them.”

"How powerful, exactly? I don't want to do this if it'll get one of you killed."

“Very powerful. I highly doubt it’ll attack us unless we provoke it, though; unless it decides it wants to turn me in. I don’t… think they care much about money, but I might want to wear a hood or something so I’m less likely to be recognized.”

Variance grimaced. "Are you sure you don't just want to find somewhere to hide in this universe?"

“I’ve already tried that. The Kkhlei’s reach extends throughout the galaxy and into most other inhabited space. And word of the bounty has likely spread past there, too. It would be nigh-on-impossible to find anywhere we could actually settle down.” Just an hour ago, Allera had assumed that they would have to run from the Kkhlei until they died — it was funny how your expectations could shift so much in such little time.

Edit:

To Ayia, they replied, “I don’t know exactly what they can do. But worrying that a stardragon will attack us unprovoked is like worrying that a stranger walking down the street will suddenly pull out a blaster and start shooting at us.”

"Okay... I'll trust you. Let's just do this now, then. You said you saw one here recently? Is there any way you can track where exactly it is now?"

“Good. I know this area of the forest well; assuming the stardragon is near where I last saw it, I can lead you there.”

Allera started flying — slowly at first, to see what pace Variance could match.

“I don’t know, but I would appreciate if you didn’t fight back if it attacks us. Just run away, and hopefully it’ll lose interest.”

His form quickly dissolved into little particles, and they rushed up to them, becoming again like a strange presence on the edge of their vision. "I can keep up like this. Let me know if it's too distracting."

How is Ayia keeping up?

There was an awkward moment of silence as they flew. Variance tried to break it. "Uh... I've been wondering how my mind might work in developing relationships with people. Because it's been all frozen, so would I be able to truly become friends with anybody?"

A loud sound and a flash of light occurred and accompanying them, a silhouette and a barely-audible word:

”Gak!”
