YeomanoftheBowman he/him Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 I have been re-reading Way of Kings, and looking for death rattles that might have something to do with the climax of book 5. I haven't finished yet, but I think this one is important. "Ten people, with Shardblades alight, standing before a wall of black and white and red." Any thoughts? I think it refers to the heralds facing an army of Fused and/or Singers, but I could be wrong. 2

Probably not Heralds (Shardblades, not Honorblades) - but almost definitely Radiants of all Orders against an army of Singers and Fused. I think this was more likely referring to the war in Emul/Takir from Rhythm of War - which already had all orders present (including the one Alliance-aligned Skybreaker) at battle with a Singer army. PS: you can review just the Epigraphs here. As horrible as it is to consider, I think it may be Ch 57: Spoiler Quote "I hold the suckling child in my hands, a knife at his throat, and know that all who live wish me to let the blade slip. Spill its blood upon the ground, over my hands, and with it gain us further breath to draw." If TOdium chooses a small child as "Champion," would Dalinar (or his Champion) be willing to kill the child to win the contest? Edited March 17, 2023 by Treamayne Clarity
Diomedes Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Idk, it could be anything, we have to little to say anything really
ScavellTane Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Probably our ten protagonists offering a rally cry to the masses of Roshar.
alder24 Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 I think it was already fulfilled. During the Battle of Thaylen Field, Dalinar for some reason counted 9 people (without Venli), each from a different Order (except for Ash, but it's likely she will become Dustbringer). They all stood against the wall of black and white and red - Everstorm, Fused and Singers. While they didn't hold Shardblades, this only implies that they are Radiants.
