Tglassy Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 In Brandon's first book, Elantris, there's an epilogue where Hoid baths in the glowing liquid pool (now known as a Perpendicularity) to try to become an Elantrian, and it doesn't work. As of Tress and the Emerald Sea, Hoid is now an Elantrian. A Radiant Mistborn Elantrian with who knows how many Breaths, and who knows what else! The Cosmere trembles at the shenanigans that will soon be laid upon it. 4
Vin(Diesel) Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Wait. Hoid is an Elantrian? Where did it say that?

He was glowing at the end, and Riina backed down, essentially admitting she was no longer sure she could take him in a fight. I think it was pretty clear that that was the payoff for winning his bet. 1

Awesome tie back to Elantris!
RedBlue Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 I gotta say, it’s really cool how Brandon was able to write a whole book unplanned, have it be fun and make sense as a self-contained story, and make it feel relevant to the wider cosmere, and experiment with a new narrative voice, all without making any part of the book feel strained or shoehorned. I was not expecting this book to be the story of how Hoid got Elantrian powers, and I’m still gobsmacked that it worked so well. 3
Johnny Silverlight Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 I wasn't expecting this to be the cosmere book where we actually met a dragon.

Does it even count when it's a shard? Their body dissolves when they become a shard, though I forget the term that is used when that happens. 1
