The woman ignored her, fiddling with the device.

Rayvyn stepped forward, placing a knife by her throat and another near her hands. “How much do you value your fingers?”

The woman dropped the item, and a light on it flashed green.

No one steals Rayvyn’s knives. She has them back before Enter knows what happened. “What does that mean?” Rayvyn asked, a dangerous gleam in her eyes. She pressed her knives a little harder. “My…friends…may want you to live, but I have no such limitations.”

Marilyn rushed in and grabbed the device and slowly started to back out of the shed.

The device began pulling at her essence, as though trying to absorb something from her. It made her extremely nauseated to the point of vomiting.

Gone looks at Tacien, ignoring the commotion around them. "Hello," he says. "I'm Gone."

Tacien just stared at him, terrified.

Klave stepped into the shed. This feels almost too easy. I thought the organization would be bigger than two people hiding out in a shed.

Marilyn covered her mouth and did everything in her power to keep from vomiting. She kept backing out of the shed trying to ignore the pull.

It continued, eating at her mind. The nausea grew more intense, and she got an odd feeling.

Hello, little bird, says a familiar voice in her head. Rayvyn stiffens. I have instructions for you.

Master. I got roped into a quest. Can—

I know where you are, the voice said. You need to kill the boy.

Gone?

No. The other one. Tacien.

But—

You swore an oath, little bird. Do it, or there will be consequences.

Then the voice is gone. Rayvyn falls to the floor, shaking.

Klave frowns, looking from Rayvyn to the woman. "What did you do to her?"

"Nothing." She stood up and began walking outside.

Marilyn fell to her knees, dropping the device and then retching.

The nausea began to clear away, and the pulling sensation vanished. The blinking green light resumed on the device.

Marilyn sat up a little. "Don't let her take the thingy but also not a good idea to touch it."
