“Find someone else, I guess. Here’s a dragon for your trouble.” Haly produces a chocolate marshmallow dragon. “The head is the best part.”

TAAron sighed, then began eating.

What type of location do we think we should be in? On the coast, or on a cliff overlooking the void?

"I don't know... if we intentionally throw ourselves into that thing, it won't matter if we're conscious or not, right? Like, if I throw this rock..." TAAron threw one it, and it was destroyed in a flash of light. "That rock wasn't concious!"

“We should find someone to do it for us unintentionally. With the rope thing and all that? Tell them that we need them to do it, and ask them to retie the rope and then turn it on and stuff?”

"That happened because your Intent was to throw the rock in. If we're unconscious, we'll have no Intent, and as long as the person we trick into activating the machine doesn't have the Intent to throw us in, we'll be fine."

“Yes! That’s what I said!” Happy with herself, Haly summoned a large marshmallow beanbag and sunk backward into it.

Just now, Ookla the Obstinate said:

“But it’ll be nice to know! If we do die. Which no way is that happening.” Haly chomped out a bite of the beanbag.

She stood up suddenly.

"So how're we gonna do this?"

"Fine. So how do we make ourselves unconscious and trick someone into launching us in?" TAAron overlooked the cliff that dropped off into the churning void.

No one answered, so I made the executive decision that it's a cliff.

“Okay. So. We ask somebody if they can launch us, then Nameless pretends to disable it, and accidentally breaks the rope. He asks the person to retie it and goes unconscious.” Haly shrugged. “There’s some holes, but…”

"Dude. Never ask the mysterious guy those kinds of questions. The answer is never fun or easy to understand."

"We can tell them we've figured out a way through the barrier, then get someone to fulfill some 'send-off' ritual after we enter the machine."

Nameless chuckled. "Of course I've died. A friend helped me get over it."

"Didn't I almost die? Isn't that why I'm in constant pain? I..." TAAron's eyes glazed over as they had frequently before. He began falling...

And fell off the cliff towards the void below.

Now would be a good time to figure out exactly what happens in interdimensional space.

Yes it would.

“WAIT!” Haly whirled into a wind chime of birds, streaking after TAAron. But she couldn’t overtake him before he got to the void, and she stopped short, her birds clinking gently.

I assume he already fell through the void.

"Um... Is he dead?"

Yes.

A flash of blue passed Haly. Tors had passed her, and made for the void as TAAron passed through.

No... I can't reach him from here.

Haly returned in time to hear this. “No, he’s not dead. He didn’t fall through on purpose. Thankfully.”

Quote tors cuz edit blah blah

Haly growled in frustration. Well, what now?

"Yeah, he'll be fine. As long as he doesn't go insane in the void between worlds."

"Ugh. The Void. Not a fun place. We should probably proceed with the plan then."

I'd say the void is probably just pure chaos. No laws from treaties, so basically whatever the Soulless want is what exists. The laws of physics don't apply.

The manipulator was searching.

He sat at a desk, hand gingerly placed on a small center piece in the middle of several larger shards of metal that looked as though they had shattered like glass, all forming a shiny circle. The edges of the metal were sharper than any blade could be, and the man had evidence to prove him. His hands were covered in cuts and scars where he had let a shard slip.

How has the boy escaped my notice? He moves so quickly, somehow, that I can't keep track. He, the last of his world. And now the trident has found him.

He only had a single small connection left attached to his target. Unlike what some believed, these types of links were not strings to lead him directly to the boy. It was more complicated, each thread containing information but no location. They had moved from one dimension, to another, and possibly to a third. He just had to find a location to match with his own thread. Unfortunately, the universe was a big place to search.

Then, as though a screen had been pulled away, the manipulator's vision became clearer. But why? Has he...

He had. The boy was in interdimensional space, no longer tied to a location. And because every thing in the universe wanted to be connected, it became much easier for the man to make his own. I've got you now.

Haly walked around miserably, waiting for somebody to hurry up and get them out of there. This was ridiculous!

Could he really go insane?

Haly hoped she wouldn’t find out. Her agitation just kept growing.

And with it came a tingling in her fingers.

Oh no. Not again….

”Guys?” Her voice took on a slightly panicked edge. “Guys, help!”
