Yeah but...they're in a serious situation rn and Josten doesn't like intruding on the serious stuff

A very good animation studio.

I watched When Marnie Was There last night with my brother and we both almost cried, which is something that never happens to us.

Josten and Rima could stumble into each other somewhere else, or something like that.

Where's Rima?

It hasn't been specified yet, but I'll say she's hiding out in a village shortly before fighting breaks out nearby if that works for you.

Rima crouched down outside of the barn she'd been sleeping in for the past few days, gently trying to coax a guttering fire. The cold didn't bother her much, but a warm meal was always more pleasant. As she began setting up a spit for the rabbit she'd caught earlier, she heard footsteps moving in her direction.

Josten wouldn't walk, he'd just teleport right in front of her :P.

Josten teleported around the surrounding area, hoping to find someone to annoy. When he spotted a girl next to a barn trying to cook some food, a grin spread across his face. She looks like she'd appreciate some muffins. He teleported right in front of her, then bombarded her with cinnamon muffins teleported in from his stash.

Once she had a sizable stack around her, he stopped. "Good evening, miss! Hope you like muffins." With a wink, he teleported away--not too far; he liked hearing people's reactions to him.

Who said the footsteps were his?

Rima reacted instantly to the apparent threat, grabbing the sharpened spit and throwing herself behind the side of the barn for cover. "Stay away! I don't want to- muffins?"

This'll be inconsistent, I kind of regretted my first post the same day I wrote it. This is Ghibli, I don't want my character to be quite that depressing.

Randy went back to his patrolling route. The enemy that had attacked them was gliding ungracefully towards a nearby field. He'd likely be arrested there and that'd be it, hopefully. He couldn't exactly save them the trouble that was coming but, at least for now, they were alive. Maybe they'd let them off with only prison.

That taken care of, he let himself get lost in the feeling of the wind hitting him on the face. There were some new closed plane models but Randy didn't know what people saw in those, if you were going to let go of this feeling, you might as well be playing with toy planes.

He dodged an electric ray coming his way, those were pretty common. Pretty effective against airplanes. They were dangerous but the enemy clearly wasn't focusing their mages on them. Probably better off helping on the frontlines, especially considering Randy and his teammates were pretty much on stand-by, so that meant there was only the occasional ray to dodge. Which to be honest was fine by him, though he did wonder for a moment how difficult it would be to evade constant shots from below, it could be a fun challenge. Maybe learn to cast them too. It was an option, now that he didn't live with his father telling him how unworthy a profession being a mage was, getting rid of his book collection when he wasn't looking. Maybe he'd do it some day, just maybe.

As he was thinking about it, some light hit him in the eye, making him blink. It was like the reflection you'd get by aiming a wristwatch at an angle under the sunlight. Of course he was a few hundred meters above the nearest wristwatch and he very much doubted any reflections would reach this far. Randy tried to find the source of the light. It wasn't easy, he was moving fast and whatever it was, was clearly pretty small. He went off his route and started circling a smaller area, but it was still hard work. His attention had to be divided between watching for other planes in the horizon, watching for mages below, and looking for the light.

He finally spotted, something. It looked like a bird but, something was off. The tail wasn't the right shape for an eagle or other birds of similar size, and no matter how white a bird was, they didn't straight up shine. What he was seeing now had to be metallic, against all logic, kind of like a miniature plane.

Randy caught the reflection again, this time straight into his eyes as he was staring directly at it, and almost lost control of the plane. He blinked until he stopped seeing green spots in front of him and decided to follow the mysterious craft. He'd get in trouble, but his curiosity was stronger than his sense of duty.
