cometaryorbit Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 We know it's theoretically possible to be a Radiant of two Orders, if the Spren are willing. There are hints that Kaladin is in some way uniquely linked to Tanavast (him being called "Child of Tanavast" vs other Radiants "Child of Honor"). The Stormfather is (among other things) Tanavast's Cognitive Shadow. What if Dalinar dies in book 5 and Kaladin becomes the Stormfather's new Bondsmith as well as a Windrunner?

I believe we have confirmation that both spren have to agree with it, and Syl has shown she has a rather large problem with that.
DiePie Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 I mean just thinking about the timeline, Dalinar would either have to die at the beginning of the book, or the climax, otherwise the pacing/structure of the book gets messed up right? And Kaladin is going to spend a lot of SA5 in Shinovar making sure that Szeth doesn't decide to just kill everyone (among other things), and getting interrupted while doing that probably wouldn't be satisfying.

There is a scene where some glory spren fly around Kaladin, and Syl gets protective and knocks it away, saying something to the effect of "nope, he is mine" Oathbringer page 315 Kaladin's skin shivered with joy. Storms, how he'd missed this. The wind, the openness above, even the lurch in his stomach as gravity let go. Syl spun around him as a ribbon of light, creating a spiral of glowing lines. Gloryspren burst up about Kaladin's head. Syl took on the form of a person just so she could glower at the little bobbing balls of light, "Mine," she said, swatting one of them aside. Haha, that's perfect! 2

You read too much into that quote.
