Hungry
His stomach growled, but he couldn’t sate it. Not yet. He still had patients to deal with. As the next one—a young man—entered, he forced himself to focus on anything other than his hunger. Each time he finished the meager rations, he looked forward to the next meal—if you could call it one.
His patient turned out to have signs of that new sickness that was rampant in these parts. He hoped he hadn’t caught it. The sickness hadn’t claimed any lives…yet. Though it was also fairly new—the first case being a mere week ago—so no one could be very sure of anything.

Yeah, I only wrote one story this day.

Okay, I like how a lot of them continue between days! That’s kind of fun. And it’s definitely easier to write little chunks at a time than big long stories, I’m glad it’s working for you!

Here are a few prompts. Take them or leave them, but hopefully they get the gears turning.

“White roses, black doves” (from a song called Take Me Back to Eden, by Sleep Token. Most songs by them inspire really cool stuff, but that specific line has been in my head today, so that’s what you get).

“I make no apologies for how I chose to repair what you broke.”

“How many different people can I be before I start to tear apart?” (from my pookie @Wittles, who’s now on an LDS mission).

“Do you ever watch someone sleep and wonder if they’re dreaming about you?”

There’s construction on a lot near your house for as long as you can remember. You’ve watched trucks come and pour masses of concrete, add metal supports, bring in everything they’d need for an enormous facility. Then one day, the workers are gone. In the center of a field of cement sits a tiny cottage. The next day, the cement has become a parking lot for hundreds of cars. You’ve seen no one enter and no one exit the cottage.

“You can want something with all your heart and still be afraid to take it.”

“How do you know?”

“Because I want you.”

Happy to give you more if you ever need them. Happy writing, Theo!

Nice nickname, Rue. Btw I love your username, it just sounds really good.

I think this one is my favorite. It just sounds intriguing. (I couldn't move the quote box on my phone, so this sentence and quote is kinda out-of-place)

Thanks for the prompts!

I think I've had some trouble with the continuation lately. Namely coming up with a plot or something, since if the story is part of a larger story, the character actually needs to so something. I guess I can try/continue writing the stories and seeing where the character ends up, if you catch my drift.

Why thank you. It’s from Name of the Wind, a favorite book of mine. Most people call me Eddie or Rue.

That one came from watching my dog sleep. Because I’m his favorite in the whole world, so he was definitely dreaming of me.

Up to you! It’s also okay to let things be short. When I started writing, I rarely went over about 500 words for a story. The more you do, the more naturally it’ll come.
