Popular Post TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted January 15, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 15, 2015 To my beloved, Shall I compare thee in a romantic way? Thou art like a potato, scattered 'cross a minefield Tho' not literally scattered, for then thou wouldst be exploded Which wouldst be sad, for I enjoy thee in thy un-exploded state But thou art quite potato-like in thy demeanor From thy lover, So thou art saying I art small, round, and lumpy? Forsooth, this is not a flattering comparison. To my beloved, No! I art saying that thou art a nice surprise. For as it would be to find a potato in a minefield Thou art that potato. From thy lover, Truly, It is a good thing thou art cute. 20

king of nowhere Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 oh, man, I wish I was still in contact with my high school english teacher to show her that. I'm sure she'd love it. 2
Fifth of Daybreak he/him Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 I'm not sure if you've redeemed poetry in my mind, or further condemned it. I'll let you know when my brain unexplodes after reading that. 6
Bronzeheart he/him Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 I've never been into poetry, but that was masterful. This is the first time a poem made me laugh, and I thank you for that. 5
Andrew C Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 That poem is like a kitten in a minefield. You feel terrible for laughing at it, but you can't take your eyes from it until the horrible ending. 4

I see it kinda like a post turtle (for those not in the know, a turtle that has been put upside down on a fence post). You feel bad for laughing at it, don't know how the blasted thing got there in the first place, and you just can't help but feel sorry for it. 2

I would probably end up picking it up and taking it home.
Bronzeheart he/him Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) But wouldn't you get the turtle down? I would probably end up picking it up and taking it home. Yes I would get it down, because turtles are awesome and don't deserve that . Doesn't change the fact though that I'd probably laugh while I was putting it back on the ground. RShara she/her Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 That poem is like....poop on ice cream! It's horrible, it's bad for you, but you can't help but laugh at it and wonder how it got there. 2

And yet it's strangely appropriate.
