Edgedancer he/him Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) Now I want to rewrite "Art of the Dress" into "Art of the Pet." And for your pterodactyl, I'm thinking Tapejara imperator. A pterosaur about the size of a large dog, with a huge headcrest that was probably brightly colored in real life. And it probably only ate fish and small invertebrates naturally. I imagine that the species would have had a rather festive appearance--the perfect Funtimes pterodactyl! Your wish is my command. But be careful what you wish for. To be perfectly honest, it's rather unlikely that a low-key Oregon museum would have so many distinct genera in its collection. But are we gonna let boring old reality dictate its tyranny over us? No storming way. Corpse by corpse bringing it together... my god that song would be dark. uh, shiny. We dont have it. Edited August 8, 2014 by Edgedancer 1

Kobold King he/him Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Also, if nopony minds me delving into the cinematic side of things... Aaargh I can't wait I can't wait! When will everyone quit staying up past their bedtimes so we can start? 3

When will everyone quit staying up past their bedtimes so we can start? If we ever turn it into a series Are we actually still waiting for anyone or could we start the next day? Because apart from maybe Sightlines side-plot everything is wrapped up for today. 1
Mailliw73 he/him Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Yeah, it's just Joe that needs to wrap up SL's healing and send him off to bed.
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Oops. Got distracted. One minute, I'll have that up in Half an Hour.
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 There we go. It's up. He'll get healed out of frame and be ready whenever he's needed.
Kobold King he/him Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Hope this is all right--since Alice the zombie appears to have been forgotten in all the alliance-forming excitement, I took the liberty of describing her frame of mind through the night. I have absolutely no idea what's going to happen to her. A lot of interesting possibilities have been opened up for her, largely because of Nathan. She probably won't ever appear in this RP again... but it's always nice to leave a few doors open, I think. 1

I really like the idea of Alice thinking, perhaps even breaking the dark and sadistic hold Lightwards has over her mind and becoming Empress of Portland— Okay, it'd probably not be a good idea to take it that far. But I really like the idea of a thinking zombie. And I would be totally okay if she did appear in the RP again. 2

But I really like the idea of a thinking zombie. And I would be totally okay if she did appear in the RP again. I'm glad that the GREAT and POWERFUL TRIXIE likes it. One obstacle to an Alice reappearance is that I'm really not sure where to go with it. It might be ultimately better to leave her story ambiguous and open-ended, what happens to her ultimately a mystery. Or perhaps, guided by her lifetime's optimism and her death and rebirth on the field of battle, she will begin to gather a human resistance that will become essential towards attacking and waging war against Portland's Epics, quickening the pace of Oregon's destruction. Or she could simply try to regroup with her husband, brother, and possibly dog, fleeing Oregon just so they can try to live a normal life away from the Epics. Perhaps her odd train of thought could lead to new courses of action none of us have thought of yet. As I said, there are a lot of possibilities on her part. 2
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 My question is: Does her thinking open the possibility for other zombies doing the same? Could others, with the proper encouragement, shake Lightwards' hold on their minds? And, perhaps most importantly, how long will it take Lightwards to figure out what happened?
Kobold King he/him Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) My question is: Does her thinking open the possibility for other zombies doing the same? Could others, with the proper encouragement, shake Lightwards' hold on their minds? And, perhaps most importantly, how long will it take Lightwards to figure out what happened? Eh... it's possible for any of the humans, at least. Most animals aren't intelligent enough to break free no matter what the circumstances (you could make a case for dolphins and gorillas, but he doesn't have any of those at the moment.) If Lightwards suddenly showed up and said "Alice, stop thinking," then it would all be over for her and she'd resume a volitionless, thoughtless state. But she's both been ordered to think and left alone. With no checks in place to bring her back under control, she'll soon pass a sort of intellectual event horizon, after which she'd be extremely difficult--perhaps impossible--to bring back under control. As it happens, this is what starts to occur if his weakness gets triggered. All active zombies resume thinking immediately, their identities and memories mostly restored. There have been thinking Warriors of Light before Alice, but only once. Möbius killed them all pretty much immediately. So in short, any of the human zombies could start thinking again, potentially becoming entirely free-willed entities again. But the circumstances that could lead to this are few and the opportunities far between. Edited August 8, 2014 by Kobold King 2
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 Lightwards is looking rather devious today.
Kobold King he/him Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Lightwards is looking rather devious today. My brother wanted me to put a Snidely Whiplash mustache and a goatee on him, but I think he's devious enough as is. 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 There is absolutely no way to make a Snidely Whiplash mustache not look terrifying. Exhibit A: Shall I continue, or would you like me to skip to Exhibit F? 1

Exhibit A: Shall I continue, or would you like me to skip to Exhibit F? I changed the profile picture since I was toying around with the Lightwards pony in general. I've made a Lightwards 2.0 version--not sure if a unicorn horn helps or hinders his image though Can you imagine this guy explaining the ecological relationship between dung beetles and the African elephant? 2

I've made a Lightwards 2.0 version--not sure if a unicorn horn helps or hinders his image though Can you imagine this guy explaining the ecological relationship between dung beetles and the African elephant? Yes. Yes, I can. I can imagine Twilight Sparkle as one of his students, running to Princess Celestia in horror when she sees him warping into something else….. The horn looks fine, but I think I like him better as an earth pony. It's just a little creepier, thinking that he doesn't even have to be a unicorn to do all of those things. Maybe I'm putting too much thought into this. 2
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 Also, sorry to double post, but there's an Alice pony now. 3
Kobold King he/him Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Also, sorry to double post, but there's an Alice pony now. alice.png I really love that Alice pony. There's enough innocence and confusion in her to be really awesome on a number of levels. From an Equestrian standpoint, I also like the idea of cutie marks changing when Lightwards raises someone. It sort of presses home the idea of their identities being fundamentally hijacked. Maybe Nighthound's minions could all sport identical cutie marks as their master, whatever it is? They're far more extensions of Nighthound than the Warriors of Light are to Lightwards. Also, maximum creepiness mode re-engaged. 2
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 (edited) *bows* Thank you, good sir. That's kind of what I figured. I couldn't decide whether the question mark was a result of her being raised, or if it was a result of her questioning orders. Whatever the case, it seemed to fit. Hound-ponies would have more temporary cutie marks, I think, since his hold over them doesn't last. Maybe their original cutie marks change to become more canine, then fade back once he releases them. To me, it doesn't seem so much as his fundamentally changing their identities—the way Lightwards does with his zombies—as just overwriting them for a short time. But that creepier Lightwards? Edited August 9, 2014 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles 2
Kobold King he/him Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Good points--Nighthound's control is far less fundamental. His is flashier and more efficient over a short period of time, but Lightwards' is more deep-rooted and long-lasting. I wonder what Nighthound's cutie mark would look like anyway. A pair of antlers, showing his interest in hunting? A full moon, as a reference to his name--"Night", and the fact that wolves howl at the moon? Either this evening or tomorrow morning I plan on posting a bio + pony for Möbius, by the way. During the calm before the storm. And by storm, I mean Team Terrible's Great Dinosaur Rampage. 2
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 I like the full moon idea. It kind of goes along with him taking control of his "hounds" the way a full moon takes control of a werewolf. And coupled with his appearance, it's creepy. Like him. I'm excited to meet Mobius, actually. Maybe it's because I know Lightwards' weakness and the idea that she set it off is kind of fascinating and alarming all at the same time? It will be legendary. And by legendary, I mean…. 'cause they be raisin' dinosaurs in here! 2

Something she has a habit of doing set it off. You will soon see. I'm working on her bio now, and the pony will soon follow. 1
