  1. I don't know the answer to this question specifically, but I think I can answer which order would be of the most benefit in a civil war. Lighweavers could fabricate an entire army and cause retreats or hide an army in a guise of bushes so they can attack the enemy from the unguarded side. You would need a bunch and other people to actually fight, but they would really help an army.
  2. Best parts of the book are Kaladin saving people imo
  3. Szeth was no judge or jury, just a really really good executioner.
  4. Didn't work so well for Nightblood
  5. Off topic, but remember Kaladin's brother finding stones with faces in WoK? I think those may have been old or discarded oath stones.
  6. Who is Bent Nale? I'm so confused.
  7. You say this as if he wants to kill people and uses the orders as an excuse. He doesn't want to, but does it regardless. He doesn't hide behind orders, they are everything to him. Not just some weak excuse.
  8. My main reasoning is a bit meta based. When an author of Brandon Sanderson's skill gives a man a gun, the man shoots the gun at some point. WoK spoilers below. Now think back to WoK when Dalinar was half-convinced that he was suffering delusions. He made up a document that he signed allowing Adolin to take control of the house of Kholin at any time he sees fit. Now that Dalinar is going to be the head honcho of Roshar's saviors, imagine the damage that could be caused by Adolin invoking the contract. WoR spoilers below. The only story based evidence I have it that Adolin is the only man of the Kholin family to not be a KR and he may get jealous or something. Also, of course, the whole Sadeas thing.
  9. We're all thinking it. You think they exist in the Warbreaker world?
  10. Edited in the mistake 10 minutes before your post (the sneakiness ) Anyway, your right that not everything matches, but the very core elements do. Merlin may not have been a warrior, but he had enough talent to be. Great idea with the Lancelot and Kaladin similarities though, it actually does make a bit more sense. Perhaps... but there are quite a few similarities. A writer like Brandon Sanderson doubtlessly read the old stories. Yeah, maybe not, I'm not so sure anymore after being beat down with a stick. And not Shallan's stick, but a big stick of truth. Great idea with the inverse swords thing though.
  11. The classic story of Merlin (sometimes called the original sword and sorcery story) has Merlin being a reluctant servant to Authur, a pompous, arrogant prince who can fight better than just about any warrior in Camelot. Merlin is a Magician, stronger than just about anyone, but hides it from Arthur. As the story goes on, Merlin begins to see Authur for who he is beyond the arrogance, he sees a real hero. Kaladin and Adolin could be described the same way, can't they? Kaladin is Adolin's bodyguard, is far superior in skill to most people, hides his powers from Adolin, and eventually respects him. Adolin is a prince and has huge flaws at face value, but is a respectable man once he is known. Do you think this was done on purpose? Edit: Spelled Authur wrong in the title like a noob.

  13. As was Amaram's line of thought.
  14. It even goes so far as Bob, Harry's source of information, being a jab at his teacher. His teacher said no one likes something that is there just to spout information. She called those 'talking heads'. So Jim made Bob a literal talking head.
  15. Just, Confident - Szeth Just - Szeth Just - Szeth what
  16. Terry Pratchett is one of the best writers today. He has hilarious yet engaging books, however, his books are nothing like Brandon Sandersons.
  17. Shallan put the end of her pencil into her mouth. "Stick," she said, "that doesn't make sense, logically speaking." "I am a stick." Shallan nodded, drawing an annoyed buzz from Pattern. "Yes, you are a stick, but do you think that means you can defy the laws of grammar. A verb must be-" "I am a stick."
  18. If he's a Herald, I think it won't matter so much which one right? They would all defend humans. The real problem would occur if he is not a Herald, but pretending to be Taln.
  19. Eragon was written by a teenager that read Star Wars and Lord of the Rings and either consciously or unconsciously combined them. The entire plot is Star Wars, but wrapped in a LoTR skin, down to the names and relationships. Read some Anthony Ryan or Jim Butcher (Butcher isn't Epic Fantasy, but his books are way better than Ergaon).
  20. Long as you don't get it on your forehead like the crew, haha. I think a Bridge 4 ensignia would look very good behind the shoulder.
  21. He certainly seems capable of snapping back.
  22. Is that Syl and Kaladin in your signature? Awesome design man! Though I always pictured Syl as a translucent Tinker-bell for some reason.
  23. I used to think the best character is Kaladin, but after his second bout of depression in two books, I'm going to go with Axies. His upbeat attitude about life is the exact opposite of Kaladin, so perhaps I am picking a favorite out of spite.
  24. No doubt the duel may have played a small part, but I believe Hoid/Wit is the real reason Dalinar believed Kaladin. At one of the parties, Hoid sees Amaram and says many things about him being disgusting and filthy. After the party ended, Dalinar asked Wit if he was one of the Heralds. To ask him that, I don't think he ignored Hoid's words.
  25. Kaladin was worshipped as a God in book one to those who knew of his abilities. Book two ended before showing it, but I'm sure he will be worshipped by men now. While Taln just sat in a room with no one knowing or believing him. Seems Kaladin is worshipped as a god and Taln is not. Edit: Taln was referred to only as the madman (except by Amaram)
