  1. @Shadewolf consider my forum name, and goal to tattoo. .. I'm going to accept that as cannon. Will get working on the Stormlight asap
  2. Just made the 4 hour drive back from Philly and boy was it worth it! I got to ask two questions, one during the general Q&A and another at the signing itself: First one was (paraphrased) Q: The majority of your magics use symbology and glyphs is this intentional? A: yes, there are fundamentals of the Cosmere that are adhered to so that when the different cultures meet its not a "Fantasy Kitchen Sink" and things will match up and be similar. And during the signing itself(also paraphrased) Q: on glowing shardplate and retractable helmets, is the plate similar to where blades are from? A: They are from a similar origin but not exactly alike <I mentioned Adolins observations on how all plate is similar and got this tidbit> Brandon: over time and use a shard blade will actually change its shape When I got home I checked my book and I had "There words are accepted" in it. Frankly it was my first signing and I was utterly star struck I didn't even see him write anything.

  4. I'd go with "teach grandma to crunch cremlings" personally
  5. Random thought: What if Larkin are Baby Greatshells? They use their wings to fly to New areas, draw in stormlight until they have enough to pupae and gestate their "soul" into the new form in the chain.
  6. So this thought just hit me while I was sitting here perusing the forum. When Taravangian is surveying the aftermath of Jah Kaved he mentions that due to their death rattles the spren who causes them is moving. No at the final battles and when he kills Sadeas Adolin feels nothing, no Thrill at all. Also during the final battle I don't recall any Alethi acting with the berserker drive of the Thrill. We know the Thrill is caused by Nergaoul. My theory is that Nergaoul is moving towards the Everstorm and away from the Shattered Plains and Alethkar which means it'll take root in the one place where killing and battle are abhorred, leading to chaos and strife as "those that take" start feeling a Thrill they are unprepared for.
  7. In the answers given at signings Brandon has linked Stormlight and Breath as being close. It could be that the sword needing dangerous levels of Stormlight could be referencing that if he doesn't maintain an adequate amount when holding the sword it will feed off his own Investiture killing him.
  8. I don't think the personality bond was tenuous they certainly had chemistry I think it was the Nahel bond. This is the bond that grants the Radiant their powers and conversely the Spren gets sentience. No other bond has been at risk by the conflicts of the radiant than the Kaladin/Syl bond. I think out of necessity Syl force the bond to grant Kaladin the powers he needed to survive, she just hasn't had the time grow as a Spren, it isn't until the end of WoR that she starts being more confident and standing up to her father.
  9. I think what makes Wyndle special is that Lift had the old magic. Pattern has been around for years so it was less him relearning more him waking up after a long sleep. Syl has been around but with Kaladin being as broken as he was it made the bond... Tenuous But Lift had already been to the Nightmother hence her ability to turn food into stormlight. I don't have the quote but when Wyndle was complaining didn't he say something about her being chosen because she knew of spren and could handle them?
  10. Representatives from the 10 orders, blades out and glowing with Stormlight.
  11. Actually I think that the heart has played it's part. If you remember that is when Dalinar first realizes what Kaladin is (or sees his "True Glory" you could say) if the bond hadn't been broken at the time this would have been the PERFECT time for Kaladin to reveal himself to Dalinar. That is what the Diagram was pointing to in my opinion.
  12. I'm of the opinion that Elhokar will become a Willshaper. If that is the case he'd have access to Shadesmar and may have been subconsciously tapping into it. As for why it stopped he may have strayed from their ideals or as he was less paranoid with Kaladin guarding him he may have been less anxious to flee. If he is a Willshaper with the Transportation surge he may have been using that to "escape" and just caused himself more terror.
  13. @Pudgyninja agreed however he also hasn't said any of the Ideals, everytime Kaladin says an ideal he gets greater control over his stormlight and greater retention. After he says the second ideal he holds his breath for 15 minutes straight.
  14. I'm of the Shardplate is a giant Fabrial camp. From the way Adolin Describes how someone else's plate feels to the fact that it actually has infused sapphires in it. Now there are definite advantages like spp935 mentioned Kaladin has a habit of breaking himself while fighting. And the armor feeding itself off your infused stormlight means it will last longer. As for the helmet retracting I think that is just a neat trick people who are infused with Stormlight can do, with the glyphs showing up again as a side effect (see Kaladin while holding Shallans Shardblade, blue glyphs appear when he holds it he just dismisses them)
  15. "huh... Guess THATS why the king made a random Bridgeman head of his guard." Also he was in prison for weeks, by the time he got out the novelty had worn off and the people had convinced themselves he cheated somehow most likely.
  16. If it were possible, and I'm not advocating one way or another, there wouldn't need to be a feruchemical storage. The only reason you need a feruchemical storage after standard compounding is that your body can only contain so much and any excess is used immediately. But Breaths can be stored indefinitely with no repercussions. In fact you wouldn't even need to store it in lerasium. Any metal would compound breaths into an infinite feedback loop. 1 becomes 10. 10 becomes 100. Etc etc.
  17. It would probably be a different setting in each society. In Alethi society I would peg them as being the same level as a Shardbearwr. So just like Moash they would bare minimum be able to join a minor house or start their own. If they have a position above that already it stays intact.
  18. That theory has since been shot down by Brandon during the Seattle Signing apparently. Skybreakers won't have him because he broke a law.
  19. For potential Willshapers one name keeps popping up in my head... Elhokar. He has a seemingly innate connection to Shadesmar. He is a terrible leader but one who tries. He wants to build a strong nation. I think going from being a bad king to being a Surge enhanced amazing public speaker would be an awesome story to tell. The temptation to bend others to your will. The doubt that people only follow you because of your power...
  20. @Paradox. But he doesn't murder gawx for no reason. When being chastised does the say something along the lines of "but I had to go through with what I promised" which makes sense if they view promises and laws above all else.
  21. No special powers? He explodes with stormlight then holds his breath for 15 minutes straight as he fights. I may be wrong but I always thought that the second ideal is what allowed him such ease of use with the stormlight and helped improve his stormlight retention.
  22. This is a theory I've mentioned on other threads and I wholeheartedly agree. As for the Skybreakers I see them as the Internal Affiars of the Radiants. The following of justice and even the name as those that can fly and have wondrous abilities and live in a city in the Sky... Well these are those who break them of the delusions of god hood.
  23. Just re-read the sequence it definitely says that Adolin ditched the Blade, Capitol B. and that it should be safe there. I don't think he's concerned about his side knife being safe.Edit:ninja'd
  24. Understandable. Though a case could be made for Renarins visions. If we view them as the combination of Illumination and Progression then this power would not be shared by the Lightweavers. And the Edgedancers were described as in the Lift interlude by their speed and grace(Progression and Abrasion), and Lift herself showed no aspects of perceiving the future. Nothing concrete yet but food for thought.
